In a couple of weeks I am going to start to kick count.

Ive read a couple of websites, and understand the theory etc but can someone please tell me if i have understood it correctly on what I do?

Each day from 28 weeks I choose an hour every day ie 6pm - 7pm to sit quietly and count up to 10 kicks?

Then I do this every day at the same time?

What if my baby doesnt move a lot through the rest of the day but always completes the kick count at the allocated time? Is this ok?

Thanks ladies! x

Not sure sorry, didn't want to read and run, hope you get the answer your looking for though x

I didn't realise it had to be the same time every day? My baby book said 2 hours a day, like an hour in the morning and an hour at night...confused :S I don't think it would be a problem if there wasn't too much movement throughout the day but this topic confuses me so i'll be keeping an eye on what others say! x

i got told it was 10 a day by my mw when i was put on a monitor for it, they gave a kick chart to take home and i had to mark off what time i felt the kicks xx

Yeah I've heard the same sort of thing, that you make a note on a kick chart of what time of day you felt the 10th kick and if you don't feel 10 in like 12 hours to contact your midwife/hospital etc

oh this is so going to confuse me isn't it !!!
what if baby moves but then when you start counting it stops and starts after you've finished the 2 hours ?? does that not count ? i havn't got to do one yet but im dreading it already!!

my previous pregnancy was twins.. so i didnt even bother with the kick count because i couldnt ever tell who was kicking when... if i felt the baby move then i was good.. i think its just trying to get you to be more aware and to notice if baby is having a sluggish day or not...

to kick count you start first thing in the morning and when you've counted 10 kicks, you mark down what time it is. So you might feel 5 big one's in the morning, a couple at lunch time and then 3 more by 5pm, so you make a tick at 5pm. If you haven't felt 10 in the day you mark how many you did feel instead - say you only feel 8 one day - you write this down.
They also said no need to start this before 28 weeks.

I read this in one of my many pregnancy books i've been given but not sure which one now - will try to find a link if i can.

As far as I no you pick two hours anytime in the
day and count up to ten kicks

Sorry, don't know the answer to the original question. My MW also only said to count kicks after 28 weeks, and if I didn't feel at least ten through the whole day to contact the day assessment unit or GP, so basically the same as Mrs Liamxxs and GossipGirl.

I'm seeing my midwife on Mon, will ask her. This is why I asked the original question:
