The other night in Tesco I spotted a few things that kind of made me go :-0!!

The first was a car seat that had been placed in a trolley. This wouldn't have been so bad...except it was a girl of about 2, in a 1-2-3 car seat (why would you even take that out of the car??), which had been placed in one of the little shallow trolleys!!! It looked like it would just fall out!!

The second thing I saw was a baby car seat (a group 0 one with a small enough baba in it, maybe 4-5 months) which had been put up on the front of the trolley. Except instead of a trolley with the cage for the carseat, this father had put the car seat ON TOP of one of the little blue seats you strap a baby into. How did it even stay up there??? I was a bit horrified I have to admit. There was another child in that trolley too, what if he'd given the carseat a shove (accidentally or otherwise)???

I hate seeing this too! Just use them for what they are for!! I hate hate seeing toddlers IN the trolley and not in the seat that they could sit in, it's so stupid.

I'm not that bothered by kids in the trolley (if it's one of the proper deep ones!!) but I think that's cause when we were kids there were 4 of us so not enough seats for all of us lol!! (mostly we walked but little legs do get tired. But if there isn't another child in the front seat then it's just silly having them in the trolley!!).

Thats a bit crazy... I put car seat in one of the small, shallow trollies sometimes. The car seat trollies in Tesco now are just so old that they just shake no matter how smooth the floor is! Poor LO's cheeks were vibrating last time! Maybe thats why the guy chose to do it.

I also think that shop staff are too scared to contront people about these issues as well. I mean we've been up the travelater before with baby trolly (not meant to) and at least 4 staff went straight past us. But its health and safety right? Surely staff need to say something... but than its the whole "do it at your own risk" mentality nowadays isnt it.....

Although me and hubby had to rescue two toddlers from near injury when they were left unattended in the trolley and it falling over! :dohh:

My SIL put my nephew who was 2 at the time in one of thetrolleys, not in the seat and he obviously got curious when she looked away and fell right out of it and banged his head on the floor! So now when I see kids in trolleys it just puts me on edge!

My toddler stands in the trolley all the time. It's where. He's happiest and he's always in and out helping me with the shopping. People just need to do their own thing, why does it matter !

In Sainsburys a few weeks ago I saw a woman who had put a baby who was too little to even hold his own head up at all horribly propped up in a regular trolley seat (the pull out bit for much older children). He looked so uncomfortable, like he'd been dumped in there like a stuffed toy. Made me shudder.
xx

I have put my toddler in the trolley on a handful of occasions as it avoided a complete meltdown meaning I could do the shopping quicker. I was happy, she was happy and other shoppers didn't have to listen to a toddler screaming.

I put my lo's car seat in the trolleys, either in the shallow ones or in the deep ones and ds sits in the seat, i can't put lo in the blue plastic baby seat next to him because she pulls his hair! (and have you felt how hard and uncomfortable they are) And our car seat doest fit in those things that are meant to be for them to sit on.
I don't see the harm with toddlers standing in the deep trolleys either, it's better than them running about if they are too big for the seat.
But some things people do really are stupid! like the big car seat in the trolley!! why would you ?!?!

I only put my 22 month old IN the trolley now.he likes it better,he's more comfortable,I never leave the trolleys side and I'd much rather him sitting in the trolley and happy than screaming the house down and trying to get out(which he would if he wa in the seat making it super dangerous)

I don't understand how a car seat could safely fit on one of those baby seats sometimes found on carts?! That sounds crazy but I guess I would have needed to have seen it to picture it better. Not sure why it'd be more convenient to have a 2 year old in a car seat in the shopping cart but maybe she feels safer in it? Wouldn't have bothered me really.

When there isn't a place to put the car seat on we do put it in carts, especially as my daughter wasn't able to sit on her own when we did so. Not sure if that's looked down upon but we had to get shopping done.

I put one of our blankets or one of my sweaters on the seat before I put LO into it. She likes pulling them around her too :)

It was the fact that it was the big car seat, not a baby one, and that it was in a shallow trolley, like less than a foot deep.

Also, the car seat did not fit on top properly and it definitely didn't look safe!!!

I too put my 4year old IN the trolley, he gets stuck tryna get him in n out the seat lol. Luckily ive never seen any crazy stuff whilst out shoppin, n i am still tryna picture he car seat on top of the blue seat, its truly baffled me lol

The first one you mentioned that's a bit mad, but don't worry about the second one! As far as i know, car seats that are part of a travel system all have the same clip mechanism on the bottom for attaching to a chassis. When you pull out the bit on a trolley to sit an older baby in, the car seat clips on to the trolley in the 4 corners! I only know this as my sis was given a car seat, and walking in to tesco my bil was carrying the car seat and sis pushing a trolley. the trolley guy told them they could clip it on to the top, so they did...then didn't know how to remove it when they got back to the car! They didn't know about the release latch at the back of the seat!

I am trying to picture it as well I can't see how it would stay there lol

Part of me is also thinking that dad didn't no what to do with car seat lol I can just imagine his OH telling him to take the baby shopping taking the carseat to the trolley and then thinking what am I meant to do with it now lol:haha:

I'm surprised at the people who prop their carseats where the child normally sits. It may happen to fit there, but the shopping cart wasn't designed for that and it doesn't latch in! The ones in Tesco do? Wow. Our grocery stores need to get on the ball with their carts :haha:

I get letting your toddler sit in the big part; I used to love it - it's waaaay more fun than being stuck in the seat!

No no, this wasn't on top of the toddler seat that pulls out, it was on top of the plastic baby seat (like with straps for an infant) that was attached to the top of the trolley!!!
