I our area, almost all the parentcraft classes are being stopped, due to cutbacks. I wondered how prevalent this is throughout UK.

Can you post availability in your area here? If this is a Natonal trend, something needs to be done about it IMO!

I ma not sure about cut backs etc but I booked ours last week and we got a letter a few days letter to confirm we are booked for 2 x 2 hours classes in November. The MW has been bugging me to book them for a while as she said they get booked up v quickly and once they are full you have to pay private. I live in Leeds, West Yorks.

Hope this helps!

What are Parentcraft classes?

What are Parentcraft classes?

they are just an information classes , when i did mine they showed you birthing videos , explained all the pain relief options that kind of thing , they did a bit of basic baby first aid and do's and don'ts , they went through feeding - breast and bottle , nappy changing , things to expect when baby is born , they also incorporated a tour of the labour ward so you knew where to go on the big day etc.

As a first time parent i found it quite useful i have to say as for example i didnt know about meconium and the look of horror on peoples faces when they changed the first nappy i presume not everyone does , however i knew what to expect , little things like that made it all a bit more relaxed for me .
