Hi ladies,

I've noticed that there are a few of us who have recently started clomid and I'm hoping to get us all together in one thread lol

It would be nice to know how everybody else is getting on with symptoms and scans etc. I haven't told my family we're ttc so this is the only place I can talk about it

I'll start....

I have PCOS and was prescribed 50mgs days 1-5 this cycle (couldn't actually take it til CD 2 though so it's officially days 2-6)

Today is my last pill and so far I've had very few side effects. I've had a dull ache around my lower abdomen and back constantly since the first pill, but apart from that I've been great (hope that's a good sign rather than the dose not being strong enough to do anything!)

I have a follicle tracking scan on Friday this week (CD10) and I'm very nervous about it already.

Who's next.........

Oooooh what a great idea.

I am due to start my first cycle of Clomid 50mg from my next cycle, I expect af on Sunday and then take clomid days 3-7, have a scan on day 12, then the HGC injection, and the prostrogen tablets days 15-26.

I too have PCOS and on Metformin 1500mg and dh has a low/slow/dont look at direction sperm.

Fingers crossed for us all xxx

Hi! I start my Clomid tomorrow ~ 50 mg CD 5-9! I had a scan today and she said it was a "picture perfect baseline ultrasound" whatever that means LOL. She did say that my lining looked good and that I had numerous follicles, so I am assuming that's what she meant by picture perfect. I also had some blood taken. Not too sure what they were testing but my doc is supposed to review the results and the scan and call me to tell me what CD she wants to see me next!

Not to be nosey, but how long did those ladies on Clomid TTC before you were prescribed the med? I go for a consult next week and am wondering if the Dr. will discuss Clomid.

I have been ttc for 13 months, but please see my post above re the problems we have. I went to my first hospital FS appt and they gave me a scan then and gave me all my clomid meds at first appt. I'm not sure if this is the norm though as I am in Germany. (My hubby is RAF and we are posted here and therefore are kinda seen as private patients out here and get very fast treatment!).

Hope this helps xx

I am back on Clomid as soon as I get to cd 2, typically AF is late so i can't start again yet. I recommend taking Clomid at night as it can give flushes and headaches so it is a good idea to take before bed to avoid some symptoms xx

We've been ttc for 18 months so it took a looooooong time for me to be prescribed anything.

That's because my G.P ignored my concerns because I'm 24. He told me I was too young to have problems....... He was very wrong!:dohh:

TTC for 2 years, with 3 losses in that timeframe and one loss 8 years ago. My last pregnancy I was under the care of an excellent doc who has a god relationship with one of the best RE's in the area and as soon as we lost the baby, she sent out my referral.

TTC 16 months .. on my 2nd round of clomid 50mg .. taking it day 2-6 and in the evening.
Had a headache this month plus tearful and crabby .. last month I only had a slight headache .. but very very sore BB leading up to and during AF.

Had to really push my Dr for it ...

Going from one of the questions above...
The ladies that have answered wantingmore's question already, did you all have to wait this long before going on it due to your GP or your gynae?

Reason for my question is that we've only been ttc for 8/9 months but I've already been for a scan and had PCOS confirmed by my GP. He's done bloods and has referred me already. At the moment I'm just waiting for my appointment to come through. So question is really, once you ladies went to see a gynae, did he/she make you wait or was it the GP not taking you serious that delayed everything?

GP has already told me that he believes the gynae will put me on Clomid and Metformin straight away, but just wondering how it went for the ladies that have already gone through this process =)

My case went like this:

1st gyno said I needed to be on record as unsucessfully TTC for at least 12 months. That was after my MC in Feb of 07. In Jan of 08 I had a + HPT but neg bloods and my gyno said it was a chemical, but it was a new gyno and didnt think I needed to see a specialist. He wanted me to try for 6 more months. In July of 08 I had another M/C and he finally agreed to refer me out. I had an appt in Sept but cancelled it b/c I fell pregnant again. This time we MC'd there was no hesitation and I was referred out. That's where I am at now.

I went to my Dr and said 'been trying 12 months'
She ordered tests .... 1st lot of 21day bloods came back neg, CD3 were fine so she said I needed another months 21 day before she would proceed
She said DF had to have SA
His was ok ..
My 2nd 21 day came back neg (I changed Dr at this point)
New Dr gave me clomid in light of 2 neg 21 day tests and booked me for an U\S (which has come back clear .. I'm now chasing a HSG)

My G.P ignored my concerns for a year. I had no AF for months at a time so I changed my G.P.

New G.P sent hubby for S.A tests in Aug '08 and referred me to gynie. Waited 4 months on first gynie app. and was told to wait 7-8 months for the next (which would be Aug09). I decided to see gynie privately last month and it was at this second app. that I was prescribed clomid.

Unfortunately my G.P and the NHS waiting lists to see a Specialist both held me up.

It's maddening that if a man had a lump in his *sac* the doc would get him in right away, yet we have an issue with our lady bits and it's "wait a few months and see what happens" That's borderline malpractice IMO. There are health risks with having irregular cycles such as Osteoperosis (sp?) so how is our reproductive challenges any less relevant then any other medical issue? I find it ridiculous reading how much trouble people have getting an RE appt ot their gyno to take them seriously...

and the lack of insurance coverage is a whole diffferent can of worms *end rant*

Thanks ladies =)
My GP has been absolutely brilliant (which shocked me to be honest). He ordered several sets of blood tests right away and an ultrasound as it could take a while to be booked. He also referred me as soon as the blood results came back, even before he had the results of the scan. I'm just hoping that the gynae will be nice and do what the GP suggested. But by what I hear from the ladies on here I could still be in for a long wait =/

Hey hey, well i just went straight to my gynae as i didnt want to pay for 2 consultation fee's (unfortunately health care is pretty expensive in NZ and most of it doesnt get covered)

Ive been TTC for only 8 months (but have only had 5 proper Af's..) This cycle is up to CD76 and i have been spotting for 24 days now so the gynea did a scan and saw no cysts . He then prescribed me with Provera and Clomid for 3 months.. but will first have to do a bloodtest to double check it is not a certain hormone taht is causing it (IE thyroid)

Anyhow.. hope to be starting soon as ive been hanging in this cycle quite some time now..

Thanks for this tidbit, I took clomid for one month but it was awhile ago, I am trying to get clomid to start on CD5 but I am waiting for the money to buy it and I am on my 2nd day of provera and should start AF on feb 20st so I need the clomid by the 24th. I am excited but also nervous that it will not make me O.

Thank you ladies for your response to my inquiry. I truly hope that you all are blessed with a BFP, healthy pregnancy, and precious baby in the near future.

CD1 for me tomorrow hopefully!! So I will be starting clomid cd2-6 from Fri. But dr has prescribed me a wacking dose of 100mg straight off. I thought you had to start with 50mg to see how you react? Not sure if to just go for it and then maybe suffer side effects or just ignore consultants prescribing and just take 50mg instead of 100mg?
