ladies who have gestational diabetes, did you have any symptoms?? i have my 3 hour test Monday they are testing me because i am overweight and i have PCOS. My babys weight at 25 weeks was 1 pound 13oz which is the normal size of a 27 to 28 weeks baby but they never said they where changing my dates or that baby was big i was just looking in my baby book at average weights for each week lol so i know thats only a guideline and at 26 weeks my tummy measurement was 27. Lately I am always thirsty i wake about 4 to 5 times a night for a drink, always peeing, keep getting infections and thrush (i have had 6 uti/kidney infections and 1 chest infection, i was on antibiotics each time so the antibiotics could be causing the thrush) and i am always tired lately :( but these are also normal pregnancy symptoms so i dunno. any of you ladies with GD have symptoms?? i will find out Monday but worrying so much about it!!!

No I did not have any at all and I was overweight pre preg too. Sorry but I do recommended walking a lot it has helped a lot :-)

i didnt notice my symptoms.. but i was thirsty, peed alot, hungry, tired.. all the stuff you expect with pregnancy but apparantly is worse with gd. try not to stress.. i spent half the night crying over it tonight lol

My dietician told me that most pregnant Moms experience lots of fatigue and dry skin. I was always so tired before I was diagnosed.

Im in hospital now just found out im GD what u desribe is whay i had before finding out i had gd so it could bb but u wont know till test everyone diffeeent x

I didn't have any symptoms at all. I just know that diabetes runs in my family, so I figured it would show up in this pregnancy. I just lowered my carb intake (began spilling ketones, so I increased it again)... My blood sugars are totally under control and it isn't a big deal at all. It's better to know than not to know.

Good luck!

I didn't have any symptoms that stood out from my normal pregnancy ones. It came as a suprise to me... Though I was a little over weight before pregnancy, I was just hoping that it wouldn't happen to me.

I have it and am overweight but the only thing I noticed is that when my sugars are high, I throw up or feel sick to my stomach. When they are under control my tummy feels fine. I also could only tollerate carbs and fruit. Come to find out that mine is not able to be controlled by diet. My sugars are actually better after I eat but I only eat twice a day so in between my sugars went high if my meals were too far apart. I should have been eating snacks or something. My fasting sugars are the worst. They told me I need to eat more often but I couldn't bring myself to wake up in the middle of the night to eat. I was told that since I wasn't providing enough sugar (through the night) my body was making way too much. Sounds weird to me! I feel like a pig now, eating more frequently. I had worked really hard the year before I got pregnant to lose 75 pounds. So far I have only gained 5 pounds to my pre-pregnant weight.

Looking back, I did have symptoms but dismissed them as regular pregnancy! I gained a lot of weight through 2nd tri (12kg total, which is how much I should have gained throughout pregnancy). Since getting my sugars under control I have only gained around 2kg in 3rd tri so it has averaged out OK. I was also very tired and needing an afternoon nap every day. Whereas now I only need one if my sugar goes high (makes me very sleepy!) or if I had a bad night's sleep.

I didn't have any of the classic weeing/thirst symptoms because I never have sugar in my wee.

The red flag symptom was baby's size- I had a growth scan at 28 weeks and they estimated baby weighed 3lb 3!

yeah i had a growth scan at 24 weeks 6 days and baby was 1 pound 13 ounces i have looked in all my baby books and thats the average size of a baby that is 27/28 weeks but the tech said nothing she never changed my dates or nothing and my tummy at 26 weeks measured 27 weeks, i was overweight before pregnancy so that doesnt help and i have Polycystic ovarian syndrome supposedly having that puts you at a slightly higher risk of having diabetes or gestational diabetes. i have been getting sick alot again recently and feeling sick :( awh i just wish Monday would hurry up

No symptoms here. No weight gain, peeing or drinking any more than usual. First 2 clues were sugar in my urine at 33 weeks and a sudden increase in fundal height.
