Hi Girls

Well I had my lap and dye yesterday, feeling ok now, just sore and wobbly. The results were not so ok. My tubes are completely blocked due to scarring/adhesions caused by previous PID infection from a chlamydia infection in the past. It was a shock to be honest. I feel wretched that this is down to a STD and i don't even know when or how it happened! I also feel so sad about all those times i waited eagerly for a BFP when there was no way it was ever going to happen.

I suppose i feel a bit in mourning as having a child naturally is now not possible for me.

MY DH feels positive though as its a definate cause, and at least we will move straight onto IVF now instead of in seven months time. I do ovulate each month and have very high progesterone levels and a good thick lining so I am hoping it will still happen for me. It has to xx

You know what my fertility specialist told me before I had a lap and dye?

"If you find out your tubes are blocked then it's actually a good thing."

The reason for this? Because it means that I would have a reason WHY I was not pregnant. And, they would also have a definite means of treating me using IVF.

Unexplained Infertility seems so much more damning, to me, than having a reason. If your tubes are clear, your eggs are fine, your DH's sperm is fine and you are STILL not pregnant, that's probably quite terrifying. If you are told "Yes, THIS is why it's not happening" it at least offers some hope, I do think.

Chin up. This is a positive thing. They have isolated your problem and can now treat it.

I agree with Curly Sue! What have they offered you now then hun?Xxx

You are right, it is better than unexplained, its just a shock I suppose. Not seen consultant yet, but i know they will offer me IVF straight away now, just will have to wait for funding to come and an appointment at the clinic etc..this will take 3 months. Yes lots to be positive about. Thanks for putting it into perspective.
:hugs:

hi
i had a lap & dye in dec and they found mild endo through my tubes, womb lining and some other places. i was devasted when i first got told it was such a shock and prob took me about a week to start feeling more positive again and realise now they know the problem it can be treated. you should take the time you need to grieve your loss if that makes sense to you. i have to wait until march for my follow up appointment i think its terrible that we have to wait so long. im really happy that they can start you on IVF straight away i hope everything works out for you
:hugs:

ive got my lap and dye on the 19th feb and my doc told me if my tubes were blocked they were blow them to clear them. Did they do this for you?

Hayley 352 - maybe with minor blockages they can do that but I have adhesions that are blocking the way and would probably require major surgery to get rid of them. Its not worth doing that at my age (36) best to get on with IVF.

Im not trying to sound totally "newbie" but what is a Lap and Dye??? Please email me

its laparoscopy surgery where they check out your womb, tubes & ovaries with a small camera and then put dye thru your tubes to make sure there clear

goodluck with your IVF, whens your 1st go?

Hi Brambletess, this is so true what curlysue says! Hope that you get your IVF soon hun!

Hi All,

I'm new to this site, although I've been checking it out for some time. Everyone here seems so very nice and professional in their comments, which is why I joined. I'm not really sure how to post just yet.

My question is: DH and I have been trying to conceive for 10+ yrs. I just had a lap, which showed very mild endo, which my RE removed. I have yet to have my period, which is now 5 days late. Is this normal or should I call the doctor?

Hello and welcome to B & B :)

Gosh you sound like the most calm person I know after 10+ years of trying to conceive (I would certainly like to know how you have coped!)

With regard to lap and dye - I haven't had mine yet (booked for 25th March) but from research and what others have said, when the tubes are cleared out there are a few months when the possibility of getting pregnant is higher.

Now I don't want to get your hopes up as no doubt having your insides played around with could also make your system mess up...

Are you usually very regular? Perhaps try a HPT?

Fingers crossed luvvy and good luck!!

My period after Lap and Dye came on expected day but it was very light for the first few days which is not like me. Its usually like a tap switching on gushing it all out straight away. It did build up to the normal flow but was definitely different to normal. I would give it a few more days, hopefully the procedure will be enough to have flushed out your system, so fingers crossed for the furture!!

Have they said whether this mild endo is the reason? I know people with endo do still concieve naturally. Will they make you wait a while before doing IVF? As 10 years definitely qualifies you for unexplained - you could go on waiting list now.
