Lap & Dye over, tubes not blocked after all!..So back to 'unexplained' but what now?!

Well I had my lap & dye last week and it was absolutely fine. But the biggest shock was when the consultant came round and told me my tubes were absolutely fine! I have spent two months thinking both my tubes were blocked and preparing myself for possible tube removal and IVF!! Needless to say, I am thrilled at the news . . .

But, what now? We will be three years 'unexplained' infertility by next May, when we will qualify for IVF if we want it. But are there any other tests they can do to find out what might be wrong? I've had the 21 day blood test, HSG, lap & dye and OH has had his swimmers tested twice. Is there anything else they can test for that could be causing a problem??

hi congrats on the good news that ur tubes are fine! what a huge relief that must be for you hun i had a lap & dye last feb & i fell pregnant that very month!!! i had been on clomid for 4 mths tho....have u discussed taking clomid? i was ovulating fine but they decided to try me on it & im happy to say i now have 10 day old twins Wishing u lots of luck hun, im sure ur BFP is just around the corner xx

Thanks hun! The FS did say something about maybe trying clomid, but I was still a bit out there from the anaesthetic, so can't remember what it was exactly!! I have been taking soy for 3 months, so maybe that will help instead. Congrats on the twins btw! You must be thrilled!! I would love twins too

Lisa- great news!!!! Glad everything is clear!!!! I'm sure like dancingkaty said the BFP is around the corner!!! I had mine on Friday and Fs said he was able to open both sides!!! That was the best news ever!!! I have a friend that after her HSG and was unexplained got her BFP I'm sure it will happen hang in there and keep us posted

Dancingkaty - thanks for the success story!!! That def. gives me hope cause I'm also ovulating and I think he's going to put me on clomid cause of DH sperm motility is only 10%. fx!!! Meeting with him next Monday

Lisa when do you go back to the FS? Is he going to give you guys a couple of months to try on your own? I was amazed to see that your HSG test showed issues and then the Lap&Dye test didn't show any! Maybe the lap & dye will help clear any spider webs good luck!!!!

She said she'd send me a letter to come and see her in a couple of months, so am going to try and make the most of the supposed increase in fertility after the lap & dye!! I know, I spent an hour with her telling me how the ends of the tubes that were meant to scoop up the egg were all withered and stuck together and how they might need removing for IVF . . I was in tears for about two days after and have been completely mentally preparing to start IVF. I was shocked when after the op she said that they looked completely healthly and that the dye went through really quickly! Apparently sometimes the pain of an HSG makes your tubes go into spasm and appear blocked, which I think happened to me, as I found the HSG a really painful experience.

Hi Lisa,

Congratulations on not having blocked tubes! You must be soo relieved! We're also "unexplained" and also have to wait until we are eligible for NHS funded treatment. At the moment we're taking a "wait and see" approach, which I'm finding pretty tricky. Sounds like you've had all the usual tests, so I guess they would be looking at some kind of treatment next.

Best of luck to you. Will be keen to see what you're FS suggests.

Hey Lisa I had the lap & dye at the start of this month and like you all was clear so the fustration of not knowing what's preventing is still driving me
Anyway I'm thinking that this supposed increase in fertility has to be tested so am looking forward to lots of and to catch that egg!
I too have the follow up appointment in 6 weeks and am thinking clomid??
Anyway lots of and fx'd we all get that soon

Yeah, I think I might talk to her about clomid . .. tho I might give soy a good go first. I have been taking it for the past three months but haven't been able to for two of them due to the HSG and then the lap & dye. It has definitely brought my OV forward and can really feel good strong OV pains and getting LOADS of EWCM from it!!! So think will give it a go for a few months to see if it has any effect combined with the HSG and lap!

The only trouble is that the soy hasn't sorted out my spotting I get it for anything up to 5 days before AF. The FS says its nothing to worry about but I'm not so sure. I only have a 12 day LP as it is, so quite often start spotting at 7dpo. For me, that's not a lot of time for implantation??? I think it might have something to do with low progesterone levels but getting the FS to take that seriously is another matter!

I had my hsg last wk and have had v v strong Ov pains 2!!
Plus loadsa EWCM!! Cant honestly remember this happening b4!!
So im thinking the hsg has done me a big favour!! My FS has gave me a script for Clomid im to start it next month CD2-6 for 6months!!
Im really hopin we caught the moment this month!!

Hi BabyCarey Cool! Hope your bfp is just round the corner!! Can I ask why your FS prescribed you clomid?? You obviously OV without it, so is it just to try and increase your chances generally?

I think he has prescribed it to increase my chances and reg my Ov,i Ov a bit later than normal! He wanted me to geta HSG just to check all ok there! And see theres no blockages either. It went well,and was painless*thankfully*
Im hopin the Clomid does the trick,not sure what our nxt step will b if it doesnt work,but i feel positive it will!

Lisa & MsrLB I know exactally how you all feel.... My DH and I have had "unexplained" fertility issues for 5yrs now. He has tested fine twice also. All my tests are normal and I just had my dye test done Sept 27 b/c my DR thought blocked tubes, But just like you they are fine. I think that the most frustrating part is NOT KNOWING WHY!!!! I wish you the best of luck and LOTS of baby dust!!!! FX You'll get your BFP soon!!

Saw the title and thought would tell you my story quickly. Hope thats ok. I had a lap and dye 2 years ago. I was told that my tubes where both blocked and i would never conceive without IVF. 6 month later i conceived my DD and now 8 months after she was born im pregnant agagin. I think the lap played a huge part in this. Hope your as lucky
