Today i had my FS appointment. I saw x-rays of my tubes which look like sausages tbh and my overies look like frog spawn lol. I nearly cried as he was going on about this dont work and they wont work :blah: :blah: :blah:

I got to admit i had no idea what to expect in the way of treament or future planning but i thought that i had more options available to me than he gave me.

1) IVF - not an option beccause i have a child already
2) Clomid - no good as my tubes will destroy any developing eggs
3) drilling - no good as tubes will destroy any developing eggs

The only option i was given was a laparoscapy to put a hole in my tubes to drain the fluid out. He continued to tell me the success rate is low, when i asked him how low was low, thats when i was shocked. 10 - 15% is the sucess rate.

Either way i accepted the offer and i was given a date for the 25th of july 2011. I know the success rate is low and even after the process there could still be no chance of me getting pregnant but i just havent got it in me to give up yet.

Thing is i forgot to ask the FS about the cysts. Its all fine and good having clear tubes if my cysts dont let me ovulate. So it would only make sense to have some sort of medicationto help me ovulate. I feel like kicking myself for not asking.

I just want to know if anyone has had the laparoscapy, did anyone fall pregnant after having the laparoscapy, any side effects, regrets, any help ould be great thank you xxx

I'm having a lap done on the 29th July so please let me know how your one goes :)

to answer your question i would of thought that once you had a lap done they would test your tubes after with a HSG then if its working give you clomid to help you ovulate??

I hope ur right Mrs evans, I deffinatly will let u know how it goes. Just a little question, are u really nervous? I am!!! I have never had an operation before.

I'm having mine on 26th of July. I am absolutely terrified. Most ppl told me is minor op but it really depends on that person and what has been done. I haven't had any op in any form b4 whatsoever so I am so nervous......

i dont mean this in a nasty way but im glad im not the only nervous one. Dont feel so alone now. what u having done hun. Im having my tubes unblocked and drained.

hi hun am sorry i carnt answer your questions but didnt want to r&r ..... good luck for the lap am having one done 2nd sept and already nervous. ive heard a few people say that once theyve had there tubes flushed but its helped them fall preggy after ... please if u could let me know how you get on xx

Hi Ladies,

I have had 3 laps so can give you a little info on what they are like. I haven't had them to try and get pregnant so it may differ slightly. But let me reassure you that they are ok!

I have endo. I had the first for investigation, the second to laser endo sites and move the position of my womb and release my ovaries that were tucked behind my womb and the third to check that everything was ok 7 years later as I was getting pain again.

You will end up with 4 little cuts. One in your tummy button, one directly below your tummy button on the edge of your hair line  and one either side of this cut. These incisions are for the camera and 'equipment' to do the investigations and any stuff that needs doing.

They 'blow up' your tummy with gas so that the surgeon can see and have more space to look around. This gas can cause you pain after the operation while it dissipates. I didn't get pain the first time, I had a little the second but it was quite painful after my 3rd lap - it can hurt in your shoulder and around your back and the pain comes and goes for a few hours. It also hurt every so often to breathe in. I found that relaxing and painkillers helped alot. You will also feel a little sore when you come round and feel like you have been 'manipulated'!

I also had a little infection behind my tummy button incision after my 3 lap so if you get pain around the incision and it gets red and sore, go and get it checked out.

I had about a week off work after every lap. Just becareful you don't overdo it.

I hope that this helps. Remember to take some sanitary towels and some big knickers and some loose fitting trousers / skirt to put on when you go home :-)

Our problem is now severe male factor so can't tell whether my laps would have made a difference. I have read somewhere that your fertility improves for 6 months after a lap. :coffee:

oh god yeah course i will let u know. Im pretty sue im worrying over nothing but i still cant help it. My FS said that the success rate is 10 - 15% but i should still have it done and "go like hell:sex: afterwards" lol, i thought that as really funny. It made me realise that hes knows more about me that my mother does (she dont know about my problems) and hes the only total stranger i can talk about my sexlife with, without feeling uncomfortable.

Im hoping this works for us all. Its not fair what we all need to go through just to get what most women are given the right to do from birth.

I really appreciate your input and will deffo remember the big pants, loose pants and towels. I hope all ur opertions havent been for nothing and i hope ur endo is gone now.

I really hope that i get medication to improve ovulation after the flushing. 6 months isnt a big window of oppertunity but ill take that rather than nothing. If u remember where u saw the info can u pass it on please. Thank you

I'm also very scared. I was hoping to start bding 5 days later i dont want to miss ovulation. does anyone know if thats unrealistic?

xx

I had a lap 6 days ago and the last thing I feel like doing is bding! Everyone is different though and I had a couple of cysts removed too so that might make my recovery a bit slower.

Hi I had a Lap 5 years ago as i had trouble conceving we'd been TTC to 2 years. I had ovarian drilling done and Endo zapped while there were there, I fell preg 2 months later. Hope it helps for you too. The Lap was alright just a little sore after, and the doctor told us we could continue trying as soon as i felt up to it.

I am really happy that you concieved 2 months later. I want the drilling done too but forgot to mention it to my FS ooops stupid me!!! How long did it take for u to "feel up to it?" Sorry i know its a personal question.

Do you have any advice for any of us going for the lap??

Hi kermy79 We were back at it after i had the stitches out which was about 5 -6 days. My only advive would be to wear loose cloths and not sure about you but i had mine on a wed and thought i'd be able to go back to work the following mon but after i'd had it done they signed me off till the follwing wed. Hope it goes well for you.

Hi everyone. I had my lap/ovarian drilling/ and the dye test done on 6-29-11. So I am now 16 post op. It was my first time to ever have any surgery. I was scared to death...but all of the nurses and support staff were wonderful. My dr came into the surgery holding area and said a prayer for me. Then they took me back to the OR. The last thing i remember was the anestheiologist telling me good night. When i woke up in the recovery room i felt a little stinging and pulling aroundthe 3 incisions that i had. But otherwise no pain. they gave me ice chips, then i went back to the first room that i was in before i was discharged. When I got up to go to the restroom, I was wobbly at first. But my hubby and the nurse helped me get to the restroom and back. After i went to the rr, i was able to get dressed and go home. I would recommend wearing loose clothing and they will give you pads if you need them. I bled for 4 to 5 days afterwards. Anyway, everything went great. My tubes were open and I did not have any endo or anything. I was given the pics from my surgery which are pretty neat to look at.
I only took 1/2 of a pain pill that first night home because I had a headache. After that, I did not have to take anymore. I did not really have any pain. I just had to take it easy on the stairs and getting up and down. BTW, we were able to start bding @ 5 days. sorry for tmi. If you have any questions for feel free. Sorry that this is sooo long.
