laparoscopy nov 2012- anyone else and wanna buddy up?

yeah, mine's on tuesday  I'm getting nervous again! I'm sure it will be ok though, and I'll come out of it thinking it wasn't as bad as I thought!

I also am itching to start IUI. I just feel like I'm wasting time! If my followup isn't until mid december, then Jan is the very earliest I'll be starting injectibles..and I don't know whether I am going to be taking them alone, and THEN with IUI, or straight into IUI...which I'm guessing there's ANOTHER waiting list for :( I think I'm going to try AC though, if they tell me that they couldn't find anything. Not sure what I will do if they say they found something, because I've been told the surgery can have a positive affect on your fertility anyway...I don't want to jeopardise that :nope:

So how did it go? 6 months is a hell of a long time gor your next appt!

It went really well thanks they have decided just to try remove both tubes rather than clip them. Am very happy with that. He did say he would have done something at the time of my lap but with being told the news about my blocked tubes ect it has gave me time to let. It all sink in. However he did say now they ask if they find any problems to ask you before ur op if u r happy for them just to do it. But bcoz I have already been thru it am actually glad he didn't clip or remove my tubes as I was so up set at the results anyway x

I have pcos and am suspecting endo. Hubs has a so/so count and only 5% morphology. I've done hsg, Clomid, metformin, iui, preseed, soft cups, opks, fertilaid, fertilecm and the cbfm monitor. They keep saying I should do ivf which we WERE going to start but I decoded to have a lap first. I'm scheduled for my pre op Nov 7 and my surgery Nov 15. We've been trying to conceive #1 for 21 months (if I counted right) and I really thought I might be able to pretend it's ok and forget about having kids but it's getting harder.

I wish the best of luck to all of you :hugs:

hia and welcome, I'm surprised they want to go to ivf without a lap...thought they always did that first?!?!

hey ilk- good luck tomo hun, let us know how it goes for you xxx:hugs:

pcct glad your feeling alright with it then, i suppose it is a nice idea to have some time to think about it. did they give u another date? x

hi no not yet am just waiting for my appt to come thru hope its not too long :) how are you? what date in nov is ur lap?

Mine is 7th nov so still got a month to go! Am still hoping I will get a bfp this month so I don't have to have it but I've been thinking that about every appt!

Ahh thats not long! am hoping my letter comes in in the next few weeks for mine!

Hi everyone
I'm in a similar situation, I'm 34 (35 in Nov) have regular-ish cycles 24-29 days, blood tests seem normal, initial day 21 prog test was low but redo in Sept was good, u/s showed retroverted uterus and normal folicles, DH SA is all fine ... but 20+ cycles (inc temping cbfm softcups vitamins preseed) and nothing. So now I'm having a lap&dye + hysteroscopy on 25th Oct, had the pre-admission appt yesterday was a bit mixed, I also had to wait over an hour then fill in the questionaire with the nurse, had a surprise blood test for anaemia, took height, weight, blood pressure, 3 swabs done by nurse - nose, throat & bikini line. Bit concerned about recovery time, nurse said I won't be allowed to drive for a WEEK and will need to be off work for that time.
Hoping that they find something fixable (and fix it) or the dye flush does the trick. Christmas BFP would be amazing.
Fingers crossed everyone xxx

Just wanted to stop by and let you all know how my lap went!

First of all, it's really not that bad a procedure, in all honesty. I recovered much better than I thought I would. Yeah, it's a bit sore, but the incisions are smaller than I thought (the hospital gave me extra dressings and have told me to change them, so I've seen the stitches!). I have one incision on my left, just below my bikini line, and one coming down, out of my belly button, which is slightly bigger. Obv depending on how much is being done, you might need another, I assume which would be on the other side (to unblock/check both tubes). It's a bit uncomfortable, and I'm struggling to sleep, but other than that it's ok. I;ve only been able to wearing tracksuit bottoms, or leggings though, as the place they're in rubs against jeans etc which is too painful :( I'm just taking it east atm - car rides are quite sore!

As for me specifically, both of my tubes were fine, no blockages, and they found a small amount of something which resembeled endo, but they think it's old/scarred, which they removed. I am really happy it's done with, and that I can get on with other treatments now, knowing that there is no other issues which need dealing with. Also, I was over the moon that it was my own FS who did the procedure, and he came round and spoke to me briefly after, knowing that I had been concerned :happydance:

I really hope everyone else's procedures go really well, and hope that my experience has put you all at ease a little bit!

Glad to hear it went well! How longdo you think you'd have to stay home from an office job?

well tbh, I went into uni today for 9 hours, and I was ok. I took a pillow with me to sit against, which helped with the pain  If you don't have to move around much, and are sitting at a desk, then I would say you'd be ok to go back after a few days. I only got out of hospital on tuesday night, and I was fine to go in this morning. The biggest issue I had was getting dressed, because I can't lean down, so OH had to help me! :haha:

also, I seem to feel better the more I get up and walk around. I had to keep getting up from lectures today just to stretch my legs etc, and the pain has definitely lessened. All I've been taking today is some paracetomol

Also, just a hint...as you may or may not know, they fill your abdomen with carbon dioxide gas to make it easier to see inside. The side effects of this when you come around again are pain in your ribs/shoulders/tops of your legs/arms etc. I didn't know this, and panicked when I realised how sore everything else was, not just the stitches. This is going to sound weird, but painkiller didn't really work for that, but POLO MINTS DO!!!! I went through about three packs in the last two days, but the pain has dropped so much! Make sure you take some in with you, so you can have some as soon as you wake up. I wish I had!

Ah i thought u maybe have already knew about the gas hunni! i was guna say to you as well :dohh:

pahaha no, no one told meeeeee!! That bit was pretty painful as well :haha: it's gone down now though...

Ahh glad your feeling a bit better hun, doesn't sound so bad now- and I will def get the polos in!! So do u know your next step yet?

-m quite lucky with work and have told them I'm takinga week off and they are fine with it.

Xx

well my FS came round after to speak to me, and said because there was so little wrong, he didn't want to waste time and have me wait until the actual follow up I booked for december...he said to book in for a tracking scan, and he would come in and chat to me, but he wants to start injectibles before xmas I think :happydance:

glad you're feeling a bit better about it all now! And it's fab that they've given you a week off  I honestly think I would have gotten bored if I'd had that much time off, I feel ok :)

they are just little round mints i guess any mint would do right??

yeah..they're lifesavers is the US :haha: polos in the UK!

I'm guessing any mints would do the trick...but peppermint is the best  I wonder who managed to find out that these worked?!?
