Any ladies have this done? How did it go for you? How was the recovery time? Im having a diagnostic laproscopy tomorrow as well as the removal of a 7cm simple cyst. Im so nervous and I don't know why! Ughh!

i havent myself but my friend had it done 2 weeks ago, she said it wasnt too bad and it hurt the most when the clamp thing when in, the thing she said thats bugging her is, that you bleed a fair bit after, she has done constantly for the 2 weeks and your not allowed to us a tampon so shes changing pads all the time coz she concocius about it,

hope all goes well, youll be fine, i need to go for my smear test as ive just turned 26 x

i had my cyst looked at today, and although we are waiting 6 weeks to see what happens he mentioned it was done under a general if a lap was done. and the recovery was about 4 weeks, not so painful xx

Yeah its general anesthesia so I will be intubated. I think that's what has me so nervous. My doc told me 2 weeks of pelvic rest but that I will have no other restrictions. Im a nurse and im used to taking care of patients not being one!

ul be fine then. once its started and its finally getting sorted it should fly by x

Your friend was awake for a laproscopy or she had a cyst removed and was awake?

I had a lap done and cysts drained couple of weeks ago. I recovered fully just under 2 weeks. No pain just some discomfort as ur stomach will b quite swollen for at least a week. So ppl suffered pain from the gas pumped into ur stomach but believe me, it is not bad at all. I think they r going to only drain the cysts right?!

I hope it goes well for you tomorrow. I am having mine (same size as yours) removed next week and also a little nervous. Let me know how it goes x

Yes the doc said she would drain it then remove the cyst wall.

I will definily keep you updated. Im supposed to go back to work by friday so im hoping to be feeling good.

OH had lap for large cysts and endo about 9 months ago...about a 5 hour surgery. Full recovery time was about a month if I recollect. (But was gently up and about getting out, after just a day or two...walking, and we took a taxi back to our hotel the night of the surgery.)

I think it depends on a lot on the skill of the doc though...

Yeah im not sure if I have endo or not so that could change my recovery time a bit. Thanks for all tthe responses!

Don't worry, I had the same procedure in July and it went well. I was under general anasthetic but was allowed to go home the same night. I made v quick progress and was almost back to full health after 2 weeks. Unfortunately i then went on holiday and got an infection in my belly button which was pretty sore, but that's my fault for going swimming! It soon cleared up after some antibiotics. My advice is to keep moving each day after the op, a little at a time, and you'll soon recover, good luck!

hi, i had a laparotomy done and had to lose my left ovary and tube due to a large dermoid cyst in febuary. The cyst was too large and solid to remove it laproscopically. I will be honest and tell you, it hurt, mostly the incision and i didn't bleed long afterward. I was put on pelvic rest for a few weeks, 3 i think. I was out of work ( i am a nurse too) for 5-6wks. I now have cysts on my right, hemorrhagic and simple cysts that should dissolve on their own and i get them monitored again in oct, it's done every 6 weeks.
hope that helps.
