Let the August Babies Be Born!

Great news marmoset.

Antenatal classes have been good so far. The other couples are really nice and we have covered labor, good labor positions, pain relief, induction etc.
I have been looking into the TENS machine hire today and am thinking to go with it.
The baby shower was great but we didn't get many important things on our registry, so we will have to go and get them soon.

Hoping you are almost prepared Tani, and all the best for induction.

Wow Tani, so close! You must be ecstatic!

I've started on the raspberry leaf tea & Ava seems to love it, she was going mad just now 😄 Her dads family has a track record of having babies between 37-39 weeks but she's the first girl out of an all boy family so she might completely flip that notion on its head! I really hope not 😔 But apart from that, not doing too bad here. Constantly standing at work is making my legs and feet horrible (but not swollen, yet!) so can't have a chair right now, also apparently there's no space for one, grrr!

Tbh I think I'm more in denial :haha: like I've not really felt pregnant during the pregnancy (not a huge belly or alot of movement) and in a few days I'll have a tiny human to look after. How did that happen

Great news marmoset! :happydance:

Lilred glad to hear the classes are going well :) Hopefully they'll help you when the time comes. Sorry you didn't get everything you needed at your shower though.

Emsabub I love raspberry leaf tea! I've been drinking it a lot too. I also feel you on the leg and feet pains. I've been using a support belt, which has helped a little. I take warm baths whenever I feel too achy.

Glad that you've had an easy pregnancy, Tani! It makes up for all the issues you're going through now. Hopefully your induction goes easily. On a side note unless one of us goes into spontaneous labour in the next week or so yours will be the first baby born on this thread :)

I've just found out that I am GBS+ which ruins my birth plans a little. I wanted to be able to walk around during labour but instead I'm going to be hooked up to an IV to receive antibiotics. Still aiming for a natural birth despite that little hitch. Oh, well. All for the good of the baby and praying that she won't have any complications because of it.

Oh that sucks about the GBS lilmiss! I just had my swab the other day but no results yet - I feel the same really hoping to avoid the IV.

Shouldn't interfere with the rest of your natural birth plans though I hope! Especially if you can get a hep lock so you're not actually tethered except when the antibiotics are going in (which is what every 4 hours?)

I feel like having the IV in makes it easier for the staff to suggest other interventions, but you're still in charge ultimately of everything they do or don't do you know?

That's what I keep telling myself anyway. :) :)

So I have been thinking a lot about what to bring to the hospital. I'm going to try to keep it to a minimum because most of the essentials are provided at my hospital.....toiletries, pads, diapers, fomula if needed.
My main concern is what clothes to bring for baby? I've never had a summer baby and I know I'm going to bring nb and 0-3m because she could be a big baby, but how much? A cpl muslin blankets and the boppy. What are you ladies packing?

Marmoset - Yes it is every 4 hours. My labors typically run less than 4 hours so I'm hoping I'll only need one dose. It shouldn't ruin my natural birthing plans too much, it just depends on how quickly I go through the bag of fluid antibiotics and can get moving again. At my birth center they provide you with a saline lock just in case you need blood after delivery or decide you can't take the pain and need meds through the IV line. Good luck for your results btw!

Amy - I would take at least 6 outfits in case she has a blowout that gets on her outfit since some hospitals don't have laundry rooms or if you/the hospital staff give her a bath it'll be nice for her to have a fresh outfit. I'm keeping my hospital bag simple. In addition to baby's outfits, I'll probably take a complete change of clothes for me to wear at the hospital and another change of clothes for going home. I'm going to take some books or something to keep me occupied and of course my phone/camera. I'll probably also take a robe and slippers for the nights. We're bringing baby's car seat up to the room so when she's ready to go home. Everything else our birth center supplies.

Our hospital dresses baby for the first bit (or diapers and swaddled), so we're just bringing a NB and a 0-3mos going home outfit. Along with some blankets (to double as nursing covers), a couple of diapers in the bag in case we need to stop somewhere on the drive home (it's about 45 min-1 hour). And a thing of baby wipes, carseat installed, baby head rest for the car seat.

My bag is pretty simple too. Slippers and grippy socks. Housecoat and night shirt. Going home outfit that's comfy and loose. Toiletries and phone stuff will go in last minute. My breast feeding book just in case, some snacks for me and hubs, money for food/parking/vending, nursing bra, and a sports bra to wear during delivery. Might pack my swim suit too, as I hear they have an awesome labouring pool.

I'm have step b too... I'm going Monday for a set plan but when seeing the mw today she said oh she's very low... I have beven having the odd pain down there and felt her shift down more as I have a lot more room up top haha.... but feel very low in my self... Gonna have a nice warm bath and chill and watch up on soaps tonight... I still need to pack me bags haha.... I let my oldest pick and outfit for her :) xxx when she means low is that engaged or not?

I've had my last scan / ctg appt. No major changes. Baby still happy inside, not really growing size wise but he's strong and fully developed :happydance:

Monday is induction day, 3 more sleeps

not much going on here really, only six more days at work until I leave and we have our second hypnobirthing day this weekend and then second antenatal class next weekend.

I have my birth pool liner and will arrange to meet my doula in the next two weeks to get the pool from her, then I guess it's labour watch

cant believe August babies will be making appearances soon! We are ready to go, nursery done, bags packed. I no its early but I'm hoping he's early, my brain can't take much more of the constant worrying if he's ok in there!

Well I am starting to panic now, these days are flying by, my new weeks seem to be coming really quickly. I'll be 34 weeks on Tuesday, doesn't seem like 5 minutes since I was 30 weeks. Crazy how time is flying.
I have never felt so unprepared and terrified about anything like I do about this :(
I pray I go over just so I have more time but I also want her to come early cause she is measuring large, 5lb 8oz at my scan the other day 33+2. I have to go and have another scan at 37 weeks if she has grown loads then my consultant wants a chat about another induction or an elective section. Oh the joys and uncertainty of pregnancy. Night mare!!

Hope all you lovely ladies are doing well? X

I am in the same boat as you! I'm 34 weeks monday, she measured 5lbs 2oz at 32 weeks and another growth scan at 37 weeks. The anticipation of how this goes has got me anxious. I want to try for vbac but I know plans can change. Doc says if I get to 39 weeks, we will induce but I'm thinking now that it's going to depend how the scan goes august 1st.

Let's hope our measurements are way out. I was induced with my first due to low weigh, pre eclampsia and other complications during birth. I ended up have a Csection so I'm hopping for a VBAC too. My consultant said he was happy for me to go natural at the moment but he wants a proper discussion after my next scan on 4th August. I really really do not want another csection, I really don't think I would cope with absolutely no support around me once my other half goes back to work. I pray our babies ain't gaining to much in there so we can both have vbacs xx

Are doctors putting a lot of faith into their weight predictions?? I haven't even had a single weight guess here, other then doc saying "I think it'll be an average size baby" as though that's the most general statement ever :P We only get one really scan until we start going over due, and that was back at 20 weeks. Not much of an indicator.

Was visiting a girlfriend who had an elective CS two weeks ago, and they predicted her LO would be about 8 lbs. He was just over 6 :P Makes me squirm to think of how off they can be with weights. Talked to a ton of friends on the weekend that had inductions due to size or CS, and their doctors were never close to right about the weights. In both directions!
