LH surge on CD1?

I was due for AF yesterday. I only had a spot of blood on the toilet paper and nothing for the rest of the day. Then DH and I BD'ed this morning and there was suddenly more blood, pinkish. I took an OPK and it wasn't positive but the test line was really dark. Like, dark enough that if I was on CD14 I'd know that O was coming near.

Has anyone else gotten a dark OPK or LH surge on the day AF was due?

Note: I did take an HPT too and it was stark white, as it has been for the last 7 days.

positive or nearly positive opks can sometimes come with a bfp, but like you said you've tested negative. A high amount of lh in your system at times other than ovulation can also be a sign of pcos as there is a constant high amount of lh in your system with this condition and this can hinder ovulation and lh is so high it never has a chance to spike and induce ovulation. If you don't get a bfp in the next couple of days, maybe pay a trip to thedrs and get it checked out. Good luck x x

Yes, I have. My ovulation tests are all over the place though and I'm currently seeing a fertility specialist about it. I don't have PCOS though.

What's really weird is a week ago I took an OPK and it was barely there. That's one of the reasons I knew I was out this month. Maybe I was just really dehydrated? I was drinking alcohol last night....hmm...I'll test again when I get home and see what happens.

When you say test again do you mean opk or hpt. I definitely think you should do another hpt. I stalked your journal and spotting that starts and stops around af time could definitely be a pregnancy symptom! x x

I was just gonna do OPK but DH just bought some HPTs (total surprise!), so I guess I'll be testing with both. I've been drinking a good amount of fluid today so I'll hopefully be able to discern if the dark line was indeed from dehydration.

don't drink too much though, you don't want to dilute the pregnancy hormone (if it's there) If it's bfn I'd test with fmu. Lots of baby dust x x

It's normal to get a + opk just before AF comes, that why they say to stop testing after your +

I don't want to hijack this thread but hopefulfor1st can I ask you a question? I've taken 50mg of clomid this cycle, my ovaries have been hurting so much for the last three days, but less today than they have been. I got my lh surge yesterday morning, but I don't think I've had a temp shift yet (don't think I've ovulated) I'm still surging, but I've got a feeling I won't o. Hope you don't mind me asking, but when ou failed to o on clomid (saw it on your signature) Did you have an lh surge, did you have ovulation pains, but no egg was released? x x
Op did you take a hpt? Has af arrived yet? x x

But that was cd18... Cd19,20 I had paler lines and assumed I'd oved but today I tested and still have a fairly decent line!
I did have a few twinges down there that I thought could've been ov but obviously not! When I conceived Jace the day I oved I felt like a swelling of my insides against my abdomen... Just like I was really AWARE of that area I could feel them slapping at my belly when I walked! This cycle I didn't have that but alot of my belly is numb since my cesarean so I was hoping I was just desensitized to it!

Thank you for your reply what cd are you on today? I'm on cd 13 and this is my second day of +opk. I'm pretty sure it's + because it is slightly darker than the test line and previous to my + I'v had no line. My concern is just that my ovaries don't hurt as much as they did before I got my surge, I would have thought they'd hurt more now, so I presumed that ment I'd o but I don't have sore boobs like I always get after o and my temp hasn't gone up (although I wasn't taking it before I got +opk I just know that, 36.5 is definitely a pre o temp for me. Your test really looked quite positive to me. Are you being monitored or do you know you didn't o because of bbt?

That test was cd18, I had a blood test on cd22 to test progesterone (it goes up after you ovulate that's how they know!) and it said I haven't ovulated, I'm now cd25, ill have another progesterone test in a few days then if no ov ill be moving up to 100mg clomid.
I just don't understand how I conceived Jace on 50 and now I didn't even ov

I feel your frustration! I conceived Oakley on 50mg first round and I've got a feeling I won't o this time. I'm not being monitored though, just taking my left over prescription from when I conceived Oakley. How will they induce your af if you haven't ovulated? I really hope they don't need to. I've read some of your posts and you always seem really knowledgeable, do you have any idea why I would have strong o pains before my surge and only mild ones during? I read that the pain is caused by the nerves being stretched while the follicles grow

I've read on here some women have pains on both sides as follicles grow and then a pain a few days later on the side that decides to ov hopefully that's what your having!
If my next progesterone test is still showing nothing my doc doesn't induce a period first- the way he describes it is we just have to know if your cycle it's stuck in the first half or second half.... If its in the first half (not ovulated) we can go ahead with clomid straight away because well your body's not growing eggs anyway so why make the cycle go back to the start when it's virtually always at the start! If its in the second half we will know by a progesterone test which we do and mark urgent so I get results ASAP and if the number is up then I'm in a tww and should await AF because I've oved. But usually I'm stuck in the first half (not oved!)
If that makes sense?

It's always amazed me how some women have bad ov pains! I mean the egg is so small it's not visible to the human eye, coming from a follicle around 2mm.... And we can feel that bursting through?! It's so tiny!!!

Fingers crossed for both of us that we ovulated then I find it so stressful just waiting to o let alone the tww. I know ovulation pain is so weird. I always get it whether I'm on clomid or not although it's sooooo much stronger on clomid. Good luck to you x x

I prefer the tww cos then I know it's out of my control, I've done everything I can and its up to fate! In the lead to ov I find the timed bd stressful, as my cycles are so unpredictable my "fertile week" is often 3+ weeks long!

Sounds like our bodies behave in similar ways. Without clomid the earliest I've o is day 24 the latest day 40 last time on clomid I o on cd15 and conceived ds. I can't remember if you said, do you ovulate on your own? I just did another opk it's the darkest one so far. Definitely definitely positive, just don't know if I'll pop an egg.

I never did but since I started metformin in July I did actually ov without knowing it, and ended up getting a BFP but it was a chemical. I then went on to have another AF 60 days after and that's when I started this round of clomid.

Still bfn on hpt but opk line is still dark.
