Linea Nigra... When does it appear?

Most people say that they dread this but i cant wait for it to appear.

My pregnancy doesnt feel real yet so i want all the little things like this just not the stretch marks lol!!!!

When does it appear on average?

Im 20+4 with my first child

It may not. Not everyone gets it. I did first pregnancy but don't have it this time so far (I'm 22+4). It could come any time from now.

Every mom I know personally had one - but I'm not sure when it showed up.

Last week somebody asked me what mine looked like, because there is an old wives-tale regarding gender and the linea nigra, but I shrugged because there is DEFINITELY not one there. I can't imagine it showing up much sooner than 20+ weeks, but she said she had hers by 14 weeks. . .of course, she was carrying twins, lol

My DH pointed out that I was getting one yesterday (after me explaining what it was when we watched One Born Every Minute). It is only pale and yellowish at the mo, I thought it was too early to get one yet!

i started noticing mine at about 17 weeks, its very faint. now im 25+ its a bit darker but not as dark as id thought lol. some people get them, some people dont. im feeling very lucky i dont have any stretch marks, but pissed off as i am in sooo much pain with my trapped nerve. getting myself a drink or going to the toilet is agony!!!

mine is very faint at the mo! apparently its something to do with skin pigmentation but they dont actualyl know why you get it so i think its more mediterranien/african etc ppl that get it. i started to notice mine at about 22 weeks but i dont have a clue how dark its going to get as i am quite fair skinned (my dad is african, mum english) x

I'm caucasean (sp?) adn think I'm getting one. My lower tummy is generally more furry than normal (I'm fair & not normally hairy!). I can see a linea negra starting to come out from the bottom, its really faint atm x

I got one each time but never dark. I didn't get the line until I was 30+ weeks and I still don't have one at the moment.

You know what's so weird? I did not have the linea nigra with my son 15 years ago, but did with my daughter 8 years ago, and now I'm pregnant with another boy and no sign of a line yet (I'm 21+3). Maybe there is some truth to the wives tale?

I think mine is just starting to come up from the bottom (now 23 weeks). It's very faint though, and sometimes I think it's just my eyes playing tricks on me.

DH & I are like you though... we're both excited for it!

I had a very faint wonky one when preg with dd, it showed up at about 28wks but never got strong. It stayed really faint until I had her and disappeared about 3wks after she was born. Haven't got one yet this time but expect to get again about the same time. x

I never had one when pregnant with my little girl but my little girl has one!!!Shes 2 and I can still see it!!
