--Lion Cubs - Mummy and Baby Group!-- We are all One Year Old!

You two are crazy! either that or I am a miserable cow! I haven't even considered Sophia's 2nd birthday. Don't really know where we will be living, and i will be fairly up the duff by then so shall put off thinking about it for as long as possible..............however we may have a winnie the pooh theme as Sophia loves the characters especially Eey-ore!

Oh and I forgot to say Spidey - well done to Kira for getting into the whole talking business, you won't have a moments peace!

aw that is SO cute, I wouldn't even know where to start looking!

I just got on amazon and typed in party supplies. :D I was originally thinking of doing a barbie theme but than I realized barbies are for 3+ so I decided to wait until next year. :haha:

I think the ladybugs are SO cute. And I think I can do a cute ladybug easily on her giant cupcake. I'll try anyways. I'm doing rainbow cupcakes every year for all my kids now. It's going to be our little tradition. I'll just change the colors according to the theme. :D I'm excited to make another cake.

A ladybug would be pretty easy to make out of fondant I think. i love the idea of having a birthday tradition, I need to get myself one of them!

I have no clue how to work with fondant. I've wanted to try but than lost the nerve. Although, I've heard fondant tastes gross. I've never even tasted it before.

ooo! I love the lady bug theme! I might have to steal it! Kira loves bugs, especially lady bugs.

Shiv- you're not the crazy one, we are :haha:

I'm really looking forward to making another cake too. That was the best part for me  Cleckner- I've heard that fondant is nasty too, but like you I've never tried it :haha:

Fondant doesn't really taste of much, I guess it is more for decoration that eating/taste. It is easy to work with though, especially if you buy ready coloured stuff, you just roll it out and then cutthe shapes out you need etc.

Here is a cake that I made for Sophia and her ante-natal group baby buddies last year

That's so cute!! I do think fondant looks really nice. I'm not sure I'm up for something advanced like that though. I had fun just using the frosting tube thingy with the metal inserts. I had never done anything like that before Emma's party. And that's just basic cake decorating. :haha:

That was only my 3rd cake using fondant, I think it would be quite easy if you do your giant cupcake and put buttercream/frosting on top as usual to then make a ladybug the same size as the top of the cake to put on top. Just roll out a round of red fondant, cut out some black dots etc easy peasy. I think it would be harder to do with different coloured frostings. Sure it will be great whatever you do!

Spidey: yay on the iron levels that is brilliant. That is so good that you did it with food only - ha ha I would say you had a chuckle when the doctor said to stop using the drops. did you tell him that you had never used them at all? Well done Kira on the talking clicking.

Shiv: ha ha that is so cute that Sophia said your welcome - its funny how they pick up on things. Natasha still says peas for please and tanks for thanks but if she wants you to take something from her she says ta ta - its only when she started doing it that I realised we were actually saying ta ta when we we wanted her to hand something over. I have no idea why when I made sure to say thanks or thank you instead of ta ta when I have been teaching her to say it.

Cleck: I can't believe you are looking at party stuff already lol - the ladybug theme is really cute though - Were amazon expensive for their party stuff - I got Natashas from ebay last year and it actually ended up to much more than I expected in the end. We are thinking we might to go one of the play gyms this year - They do parties and include the food and 2 hours play time - We have such big families and it took hours to organise and clean up last year and I felt I spent more of the day making sure everyone had enough food and sorting stuff than actually spending time with Natasha - this way somebody else does the cooking and cleaning and all I will have to do is mingle and spend time with Natasha.

We have a very fed up girl here for the last few days one of her eye teeth broke through last week and I can feel a tiny bit of the top two eye teeth so I can't blame her for being so cranky I would be too with those sharps points coming through at the same time.

What is the usual age for the second lot of molars as I'm hoping the poor baby will get a break after these eye teeth come through as she will only have those left - she really has had a rough time in the last few months with all 4 molars and now the eye teeth shortly after.

jelr- Kira's been teething too and having some very cranky clingy days! I hope Natasha she gets a break soon- poor girl! Kira finally has her first molar coming thru and so far just 1 corner of it! I have a feeling that we'll have long months of tooth pain ahead of us. Aren't those 2nd molars called "2nd year molars"? Perhaps Natasha will have a nice break before growing them in.

It feels like Kira is waaay behind on growing in her teeth!

Spidey's right, the second molars come in around their second birthday sometime I believe - i hope Natasha and Kira feel better soon, Sophia is teething too, they really are a pain, especially as they lose them all again!

I'm dossing from work so said I would pop in - just can't motivate myself today and just too bloody tired ha ha.

thanks girls - yeah I was thinking it was around the 2 marks so hopefully she will get a break but then she does seem to be getting these ones a bit early too as I thought they came between 18 - 24 months - then I thought maybe I had mixed it up and the 2nd lot of molars came between the 18 - 24 months.

I really hate them - it is so cruel and for them to all fall out too like you said shiv - it is not fair on them when they are so tiny and dont understand why they are in so much pain - I think poor Natasha's whole head is sore this week as she is off her food and doesn't want any of us to go near her hair - the poor thing. There are times that you can see her looking at me when she is screaming in pain as if to say - why wont you make this stop :-(

Then on the other hand I think maybe it would better to just get them out of the way and she wouldn't have to go through it at all again.

Spidey - yeah those molars seem to come in a corner at a time too - It must be like getting 4 teeth at once for the poor little things. I dont think she is very far behind - I think I have heard lots of the group saying their LO's are getting molars in the last few months - but then I'm so stupid today I could dreamed that lol - I think Natasha seems to be getting some of hers early.

How many teeth do your babies have now - Natasha has 12 and then a tiny bit of 3 more but I dont know if you would count them just yet.

I hope Sophia and Kira both feel better soon.

Kira had 7 teeth for the longest time and she just grew in her 8th tooth a couple of weeks ago. Now she has a point from an upper molar AND a point from a bottom molar! Of course, both on different sides of her head- poor thing. When Kira gets some molars she'll finally beable to chew her food better, so that'll be a good thing

jelr- we're having the same sort of day. Today is a work day for me so I'm sitting here completely unmotivated and yawning so much that my eyes are blurry :haha: Time to get some caffeine I think!

Kira just started walking in January, but she still walks while holding her little arms up, like she is keeping herself balanced. Do your LO's walk like a "normal" person yet, and swing their arms as they move? Can anyone's babies walk up the stairs while holding onto the railing?

Emma has 12 teeth. Still waiting for the canines and second molars.

Emma walks like a 'normal' person.:rofl: that's funny. Have you posted any videos of Kira walking? I'd love to see her! Such a cutie. :cloud9:

Emma can walk up the stairs holding my hand and she can walk down all by herself. She just started doing that last week and she's really slow but she does it without holding onto anything.:wacko: Mostly I just hold her hand to walk down with her though because it scares me seeing her do it alone. She can't reach the handrails yet.

So how did Emma catch Sophia up with teeth?!?!?! She must have had a big boom of teeth over the past 6 months because I remember like yesterday Emma getting her first!

That is really cool that Emma can go down the stairs walking. Sophia now chooses to go down facing forwards on her bum, but I am still ridiculously scared (after the incident) so hold her hands!

I'm not really sure if Sophia walks like a normal person, I'd like to thin I don't walk like her :haha: as she is a bit kooky with her walking/running/skipping style, she reminds me a bit of Phoebe from Friends in that episode where her and Rachel go running!

I just LOL at phoebe running. That episode was hilarious. :haha:

Emma got a new tooth every other week for the first few months. :dohh: And her top molars came in right around when DH left. Than her bottoms came in, seemed to go back down, now they are out again. The bottom molars are just poking through in a few corners so not completely in but I still count them.

And it really is terrifying watching Emma walk down the stairs. I've only let her do it a few times by herself because it freaks me out. But she doesn't seem to have a care in the world and just smiles at how talented she thinks she is.

WOW! That is some talent for Emma to walk down the stairs without holding onto anything! I can hardly do that myself :haha:

Sophia sounds like a little flirt when she walks :)

I'll try to find a video of Kira walking. She still falls down all the time, so maybe once she stops falling, her arms will go flatter against her sides.

Emma will occasionally walk and swing her arms really dramatically. Like she's in a hurry. LOL! The other day she stood there and put her hand on her hip. Like an adult would. It was hilarious on such a little girl. My parents were skyping with us at the time and my dad thought it was the funniest thing ever.
