I have been such a spaz this past week its unbelievable. Yesterday my emotions got mostly back in check but this morning I have myself anxious and ready to panic.

Yesterday I got a grilled sandwich and ate half, ran errands and upon getting home maybe an hour later put it in the fridge. This morning I pulled it out and tossed it in the toaster oven, it felt hot so I started eating. Halfway through the meat was cold but I kept eating. Now out of no where I'm freaking out about liateria risks because it was refridgerated immediately and sat in my warm car while running errands.

Ah, I hate this worry! Are my emotions and fears getting the better of me or should I call my doctor?

Thanks for listening ladies!

Stop worrying!!!:) Unless you are vomiting violently .... You don't have listeria :) lol my dr said I can eat sandwhiches but in moderation.... Don't eat them daily, and make sure the meat is fresh, eat within a few days of buying..... Listeria is actually pretty rare ....

My dr told me the listeria stuff is all hype really that heating meat up is unnecessary and I have been eating sandwiches and what not. Since the sandwich was grilled in the first place then that's the whole point. I don't think you need to heat the meat twice.

I wouldn't worry about it <3
Listeria is much more rare than we think!

Thank you ladies! I don't know what brought on the panic but I'm feeling pretty silly about it.

In my area, there was a recall on peaches (that I purchased!!!!) because they had listeria bacteria...Luckily they were too soft for my liking and I tossed them without eating any...my dr advised me against eating any lunch meat....I still eat it... I don't know how rare it is, but I do know that if you feel flu like symptoms, you should see your dr immediately and they can test you, which is better than there being no test and they just tell you you have upset stomach or whatever....I'm sure your sandwich was fine, but for peace if mind, know that as soon as it's caught, it's not as bad as it sounds. They can take care of it with antibiotics ..so don't worry... I never even heard of this illness with any of my other pregnancies... I don't stress too much about it and I still indulge in my sandwiches... :)

I remember the recall on peaches, so glad that's done with because I love them!

Recall on peaches?! How was that done...?

Since you already heated it once I'm sure it's fine even after refrigerating. With cheeses, for instance camembert, you can eat it after it has been heated. Even if you let it cool off afterwards. It's the first heating that kills off the bacteria.

It's funny because here in Europe nobody avoids lunch meats during pregnancy. The warning is decidedly an American thing. Surely, your meat isn't dirtier than ours?

The places that packaged certain peaches had contamination with listeria so they pulled them out of stores, they're back now so it was a super short recall and I don't believe anyone actually got sick from it - it was more of a they found a trace and decided to be safe than sorry.

I would hope not!:haha: I guess we're just overly cautious about strange things lol
