Long Irregular Cycles 'r' Us

Just a quick note to say I have long irregular cycles unless I take agnus castus or acupuncture. Acu works the best, but with AC I don't have cycles longer than 40 days!

I just couldn't get acupuncture, it's too expensive and I just don't see how it would work for me. Plus with me being on blood thinners, I'm not sure how good of an idea it would be.

I have however, -finally- ordered Agnus Castus! Also got the B50 Complex, some Royal Jelly capsules and Pregnancy Multi Vits on order. So hopefully I'll have all of this by the middle of this week, and then I'll be able to expand my daily pill collection =)

BizyBee, just a silly question.
You know under your avatar where it says 'TTC#1: TWW!', how did you put that there? I've tried looking high and low but can't figure out how to change it to something other than the pre-set ones.

It was hard for me to figure out also, so not a silly question at all!
Go to User CP and click "edit your details". Then in the section (near the top) that says "family", type what you'd like it to say!

yeah, im considering AC as well if this cycle turns out to be another long one! it cant do much harm can it? its only herbs xx

Not sure how, but I didn't test this morning. I stopped and picked up a few cheap tests after work and may begin tomorrow. If I had a normal cycle, I'd assume AF would be about 14 days after OV (Wednesday), but who knows with me. Can't believe the 2WW is finally almost over!

You're doing really well holding off the testing! How are your temperatures looking?
Are you planning on testing tomorrow then? Or gonna give it all of tomorrow to see if AF will kick in and then test on Thursday?

As for me, I'm still bloody waiting on that letter. Hope it hasn't got lost in the post! Question now is, how long do I wait for? If say, in 2 weeks I still haven't received the letter, should I go back to my GP and let him know? ... hmm. Hopefully it will just get here and I'm being very impatient =)

I have long, irregular cycles too, but I can't take AC because I'm on Prozac and the 2 are contraindicated.

So, I'm just stuck.

Hey Chris, welcome to our little group!
Are your cycles just irregular, or do you not ovulate at all? And have you been to see a GP about it? There might be something else to help you along the way of normal cycles that will go with the prozac.

As for AC, I've read very varied reports as to whether it does or doesn't work. Anything from 'they made my cycles shorter' to 'they made my cycles longer!' and everything in between. I've got mine on order, but probably won't start using them until after I've seen the gynae. As without ovulation there wouldn't be much point in shortening my cycles. Same for the royal jelly I've ordered, will probably keep that back until I'm definitely ovulating as well.

Hope your cycles will sort themselves out soon!

I have seen my gyn. She said that from what I've been telling her (I have O pain, etc) that it sounds like I have been ovulating. But if I don't get my this cycle, she's going to start testing.

So, it looks (as of right now anyway) that my cycles are just irregular. I've been this way my whole life (except for the years I was on b/c)

There have been several ladies on this forum that have fallen pregnant on like CD 80 something or very late on in a cycle. So it's definitely possible. Fingers crossed

thought i would stick another update on here.... makes me feel better when i write it out. well got dark brown cm now when i go to loo so af may be on her way in the next couple of days.... so 1st cycle off the pill 51 days .. this one 42/3 days max... hopefully my cycles are sorting them selfs out xxx

Erised - I don't temp, so not sure. I will probably cave tomorrow morning and use a cheapie, but I'm trying to hold off until Thursday.

I would say you should ask after 2 weeks. That seems like a long time to wait for it!

Welcome Chris! I was the same way. I always had irregular periods, but it's worse since going off of BC.

Drakey, hope it gets sorted out soon. When I went off of the pill, I waited months for my AF and just got a week of brown spotting. I hope this is a true AF for you, so your cycles continue to shorten.

We are getting quite a merry group now - not that I would wish anyone long cycles of course! - but it is nice to have support on here isn't it?

Erised - I would chase about that letter asap - I used to work in admin in the NHS and they quite regularly had backlogs of letters just waiting to be typed by the secretaries! It could be held up along the way because of something like that - they may move it to the top of a pile if you nag a bit - fingers crossed for you!

Bizy Bee - I nearly just fell out of my chair in excitement! - you know the main page on here where it shows the name of the last person to have posted in a thread? - I saw your name under one of the bfp announcements! - when I see that, before clicking on it, I always assume it's that person making the announcement! Fingers and toes crossed that is you tomorrow! How are you feeling?

No symptoms for me yet but only 7 DPO so still early days. Just a nice high temp still - still 0.6c higher than my pre-ov temps. Had some cramping today as well, they felt a bit like af cramps though so made me moody more than getting my hopes up. I am being quite negative and half expecting to get af in the next couple of days, which will then lead me on to worrying about short luteal phases...and that will be my next ttc obsession!!!... lol... I have read far too much online.

Hope things settle down for you soon Drakey - it's a bl**dy pain trying to make sense of what's happening when, when you're irregular, isn't it?!

Lucy Lu, I'll give it until the end of this week/start of next week before contacting them. I'm a big coward when it comes to these things. It's only been a week, could just be the normal waiting time. I know that my ultrasound appointment took about a week, and I actually got it the day before I was due the appointment. Had to cancel, but I'm hoping it will be like this with the gynae as well! Though from some other ladies I've heard they can have a 4 months wait =/ We shall see.

As long as your temperatures stay high and AF stays away, you're still in with a chance! Even a temperature dip right now wouldn't mean something bad right away, it could be an implantation dip which would be brilliant news. And that often goes together with AF like cramps. So don't give up hope yet =) As for a short luteal phase ... don't start worrying about that now! Be happy you ovulated, your body is doing exactly what it needs to right now.

I am feeling fine at the moment. I have had some creamy CM the past few days and I've had a few headaches, but who knows what that could be attributed to. Fingers crossed!
