Here is my original thread

Just wondering if anyone can give me some advice on this.
As it says in the thread, I'm supposed to be so many DPO.
Can actual pregnancy give a false reading on an OPK, or is it possible that I'm only just about to O??

:headspin:mind spinning...

To give you a rough idea..

Here is an OPK from around a week ago.

And here is today's

Hum... I think that early Pregnancy could be detected in the OPKs? Maybe take a HPT!
:dust:

Thats what I'm thinking!! But I'm too scared it will be a :bfn: so I'm trying to wait...taking another OPK shortly to see what it looks like...

dunno hun, id do a hpt just in case but then again your quite a way from af date so i donno, sorry to not be much help

Lol see now ya'll got me thinking, and I've been researching!!!

This is taken from This website.

"OPK's as HPT's:
using an ovulation test to confirm pregnancy

Overall-- yes, it can be done. Ovulation predictor tests (known as OPK's because they are normally sold in a set of tests known as a "kit," thus the K) will show a positive result when a woman is pregnant, as well as when she's ovulating.

Specifically-- while it works most of the time, there are good reasons to avoid using an OPK as an HPT for diagnostic purposes. If you want to pee on any stick that will stand still after you know you're pregnant, just for fun, have at it. But I would not recommend using an OPK in place of an HPT overall.

Reasoning-- OPK's detect LH (luteinizing hormone) which is the hormone associated with ovulation. Pregnancy tests detect hCG, the hormone associated with pregnancy. LH and hCG are, at a molecular level, nearly identical. hCG has a beta subunit, meaning it has an extra little "doodad."

Ohoh! Very interesting. I know I have read somewhere that it is possible to ovulate twice in the one cycle, so this should not be ruled out either. But, it's certainly looking more interesting and promising than getting no readings.

Best of luck.

I did a HPK and got a BFN this morning
I don't know, maybe it's too early to test for pregnancy....
I think we will just wait and see what the OPK says today after
lunch..and then perhaps BD tonight....Just in case.

Thanks girls :hugs:

It might be a bit too early yet. I tested and got a BFN and AF isnt due til thur - it's not over yet!
:hugs:

Sweetie, dont stop baby dancing. what if u r ovulating later than thought??

Just a quick question Ney Ney - on your piccies, which one is the test line and which one is your result line (sorry if I am being stupid)! Because if the darker line is the test line and the lighter line is the result line, it could just be showing that ovulation is about to happen (as the second one is darker than the first). If not and you have already ovulated, OPKs have been known to detect pregnancy. Also, four days off AF can be too early to detect pregnancies on a hpt (especially if you are using one that tests at 50 miu) - some women don't get a BFP till after AF is due!

Good luck Ney Ney

Poppy - the darker line (next to the green part) is the test line. The lighter side is the result line.

I will test again on my due date (14th) - I'm just getting ahead of myself, this result has just thrown me for a loop, I'm not sure where I stand!

Also, last night I had sticky CM - not EW at all. It was clumpy and sticky, like at the beginning of a cycle....

Thanks girls
:hugs:

Well I took another OPK after lunch today and it's back to being a very faint line....

So *shrugs* I have no idea.
