Looking young...being pregnant.

It's funny because my DH is a 1½ years younger than me but he looks so much older than me! So whenever I was pregnant and was with him, people were so kind because they assumed that I was around his age! Whenever I went out just by myself, boom! Glares galore! Same thing when my LO was born! Except after we got married and people saw my rings they became magically nicer? So weird.

I'll never forget one time I was at Kohls with my LO and the cashier said, "Aw, she's beautiful! What a great babysitter you are! Who's her mommy?" and I said, "Um. ME." And she was all, "OMG, REALLY? You're like 14!" and I said, "Um, no. I'm almost 20." and I WAS OLDER THAN HER.

:dohh:

Isn't that crazy??? I felt weird even holding hands with my DH before we were married. People always gave us the "Ughh... " look like we were about to start fornicating right in front of them (we were just holding hands grandma! Keep your nose out of it!). After we got married and wore the rings no one took a second glance.

I'm 17 and OMG the looks I get! & I look younger than that sometimes as well as I'm quite short.. IMO you can be a great mother at any age.

That's annoying. I'm 21 but I look a lot younger. While Elias was in the NICU, one of the nurse's actually mumbled something about my son probably being a mistake, and asked if I was going back to high school! :growlmad:

Wow, I would have said "why would I go back? They won't give me two diplomas will they?":haha:
I'm 21 too and I've already had to deal with people flat out telling me I was too young to get married and now I'm starting to get that look like I am too young to have a baby. I might make a shirt that says "I have a great husband of two years, two incomes, a house of our own, and I get nothing from the government so you can stop staring and shut up." I've been getting a little snappy with people who imply stuff like we are too young/not responsible etc.

That's terrible! I am really, my grandma and grandpa got married at the age of 19 and had my dad when they were 20! Who cares how old someone is.

Or something like that :p

Youre a genius

I'm 27 and constantly get confused for much younger...I've been asked for ID twice this year while trying to buy lottery tickets...and you only have to be 18 to buy them :dohh:
I've never noticed any looks though...maybe because I have my wedding rings on still.

Good for you for standing up for yourself and setting that old bag straight....I would have done the same thing.

I'm expecting this to happen to me. I'm 27 but I still get asked for ID if I buy alcohol (obviously not doing that at the moment!) in fact I've been mistaken for a 16 year old recently. I am hoping it will be fine but I'm not sure how I'll respond if someone says something to me, I'd probably just get upset because I'm a bit wimp!

I have had the dirty looks but not the comments... im 24 but look a lots younger and always get ID'd (unless im with my husband, whos 28 but looks a lot older because he is going very thin on top and wont shave it all off!).. I like the idea of a t shirt... i would like '24, married, planned pregnancy and we both work full time' on mine!! x x x

I'm 30 and i look about 17! Some people have no manners!!
Well done for standing up for yourself x
If i have my tracky bottoms on and trainers i look even younger and i'm sure some people think i'm a school girl!!
It's their problem x

I am nearly 27 and on my third pregnancy. When I tell people I am expecting my third, they almost immediately look at my ring finger. I do look very young for my age. Most people tell me I look between 18 and 20. I would have stood up for myself the same way, though. It's kind of sad that I am used to this!
