Hi All
Just wondered if anyone had any more experience of this??
Basically, I had 5 day 2 embryos frozen after an abandoned IVF cycle.
We had opted to thaw out 3 for this FET and save the other 2 for another FET.
We got a call this morning to say that out of the 3 embryos, one hadn't survived and the other 2, which were originally 4 cells, one had gone to 1 cell and the other a 2 cell.
We were strongly advised to thaw the remaining 2 embryos to give us a better chance, which we did. One which was originally a 5 cell went to a 2 cell and the other which was originally a 4 cell went to a 2 cell, in short:

5-2
4-2
4-2
4-1
3-0

So we ended up having the two 2 cells (that were originally 4 cells) transferred.

I can't help but feel gutted, this is the first time I've got as far as transfer and I thought it would be such an exciting day but in truth I just feel like it's game over already and rather than having another FET to play with, it's back to the drawing board.

I am in desperate need of some PMA, has anyone had success in a similar situation?? I know there are plenty of successes with 2 cells but I guess my worry is that they clearly didn't survive the thaw very well so how will they have the strength to start growing again. Surely these must be weaker than fresh 2 cells??

Any advice would be very gratefully received

xx

Oh Summer, no words of wisdom from me hun, but didn't want to read and run. I've heard that cell loss is normal and hope your littlle embies implant! Xxxx hugs!

Hun I don't have any info either - but want to send millions of :hugs:

As stressful as it is right now - hold on to every ounce of pma you can - and I will be holding out tonsssssssss for you too. They are being put back into you - their safe, strong, healthy mommy.

Did the clinic say anything about it to you?

:hugs:

I don't have any useful information, but wanted to say that I'm sorry you're feeling stressed & I hope very much that the transfer is successful! :hugs:

Ok hun - did a bit of research - and from what I understand from the crazy medical jargon - it seems perfectly normal and possible for your embies to go on normally.

Here is a link to one of the articles I read... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2596679/

"Outcomes of transfer cycles with fully intact embryos (intact group) were compared with those in which all transferred embryos have lost one–two blastomeres (damage group). Comparable pregnancy rates (38.46% vs 38.64%), birth rates (34.62% vs 36.36%) and implantation rates (26.31% vs 26.25%) were obtained in intact and damage groups. These results were also not significantly different.

"Results suggest that the presence of "one–two lysed blastomeres" (cell loss) in the thawed embryo does not appear to have a negative influence on the further development of the sibling intact cells."

:hugs:

I had read that they do/can lose cells when defrosted hun. Wishing you loads of luck :dust:

Hi
I'm 38 weeks pregnant with FET. ET was with two embryos that had cell loss. Both were 4 cells but lost a cell each.
Good luck Hun, my clinic told me to carry on as normal as to ensure there is a good blood supply to the uterus - with walking around etc.

Sorry to hear this hun, im no expert on this - all i know is we took two really good ones out the freezer and one collapsed, the other was transfered but never implanted. I dont have huge faith in this process but anything is possible and people obviously do get pregnant with low celled embryos like the lady above!!! In this game ANYTHING can happen believe me so try to think positive hun, its all you can do right now. Good luck :hugs:

Hey everyone, thanks so much for your words of support, you're the best.
Blue, bless you, thank you for the link, that is reassuring.

Hope you're all well xx

so glad rowena has popped on with a success story!
