Lower Wind???

Hi girls,

Izzy keeps making these sort of straining noises as if she is trying to poop and sometimes she gets really frustrated and upset with it. I think it might be trapped wind?? I know if she's got upper wind I can burp her but is there anything I can do to help ease her discomfort? Has anyone else experienced this / is this normal?? x x

Gas is very normal for a newborn. it has to do with their little system newly working, and it works pretty much 24 hours a day. Plus they are not that good at swallowing yet, and do tend to suck in a lot more air.

yes, you can help her.

Massage her tummy in a circular motion. right to left.
With her laying on her back, gently push her knees up to her chest. This one always worked for Brennan and he would just toot and toot. I would also roll him from side to side with his knees drawn up, and that seemed to help move it along as well.
Another on is to sit down and lay her on her tummy across your legs, so her tummy is kinda between your thighs, and rubb her back.
