lucas? already a Luke in the family!

Hi Ladies,

Just wondering whether you think Lucas is to alike to Luke?

DH nephew is called Luke but i really like the name lucas for the new baby!!

Be honest, whatdya think?

Ohh I absolutely love Lucas, it's one of my favourite names. Unfortunately we've discounted it because we've got a nephew called Lewis and we think it sounds too similar. If i'm honest I think i'd probably discount it if we had a Luke too.

I don't think lewis is too near to Lucas!

I like the name lewis too mind you but not as much as lucas boo.. it's funny that when you think you can't have something you want it even more x

This is exactly my predicament! I adore Lucas but OH's nephew is called Luke!

To be honest, I begrudgingly dismissed the name. I think it would be a bit mean to pick a name SO similar! I keep thinking I wouldn't like it if OH's brother did the same to us!

I also looove Scarlett, but there are already two little Scarlett's in OH's family! To be honest I don't think I would want it so much if it wasn't already taken

we are the same, i have 2 cousins on different sides of my family and both of them have a Luke...... but if i decided to use Lucas (we also like Lucah) it wouldnt bother me..... the chances are our children would never meet anyway. xx

I really like the name, but think if you would call him by Luke anyway. Sometimes certain people will always shorten other people's names also. We have two Joseph's through marriage and 3 bethany's (one extra from marriage and my sister is named for my aunt)

There are ways around the confusion, we call my aunt big bethany or aunt b, and my sis is little bethany and my oh's side she is called bethy.

I don't think they are that similar really Luke is a name in itself and so is Lucas. yes it might be shortened to Luke but really I don't think it's that similar. Go ahead have your little Lucas
