Hello,

So, it's been a year now and I just can't post on the other forum anymore because - I know they are trying to be helpfull - but it seems like someone always responds has been TTC for under 3 months (they are also like 18) and I just feel like we aren't in the same place. I know a lot of you may feel that way about me having only been TTC for 12 months now.
Anyways, in my journey, the worst time I've had with this would be between 5 and 9 months - you know when you try for it so hard and push it so much and are completely desevstated when your AF comes? That was just horrible. I was deppressed and constantly fighting with DH. So, last month and this month we have been not trying - not preventing. I have my first Doctor's appointment today - not really sure what to expect, but I'm hoping that we check out OK.
At least the holidays are over ... ugh

we've all been in your position and know how you feel. good luck with you doc's appointment

Welcome hun Im new too and ttc for a year. I came over to ltttc for the same reason... I just couldn't read posts from ladies complaining after 1 or 2 failed cycles.
Welcome over! Good luck with your docs appointment :) are you in the UK? x

I think that's how a lot of us found our way over hear hon (me included)
and I think I also came at around the 12 month mark - believe me, no one here will tell you you're in the 'wrong place' .... I had found that the relentless cheery optimism of the TTC board was getting me down
The cries of TEST! when I was not even late yet
or
I just KNOW it'll be your turn next

made me want to shout back - and how do you KNOW that? do you have a crystal ball?

and then I reasoned it's not their fault - this is all still an exciting adventure to them (as it was to me when I first started out)
so I came to LTTTC, where people still cross everything for you, but are less prone to see symptoms round every corner, and are better at holding your hand each month when it turns out, yet again, to be not your month!

so welcome to LTTTC - no one really WANTS to be here, but for those of us that NEED to be, it really is the most supportive place I know

xxx

Hi! :hi:

Agreed with Urchin, no one wants to be here necessarily but we're always here for you when the damn :witch: arrives month after month and I've also found that everyone here is a bit more supportive and less come-and-go (though I wish this wasn't the case, I wouldn't have gotten to know you ladies as well :flower:). I've also been ltttc for a short time (13months/17cycles) but it's non-the-less very painful everytime af gets here :hugs:

I really hope your Dr visit goes well! Hopefully you won't have to stay too long! :flower:

Also: Check out the 'Anyone ltttc#1' thread :)

I have felt the same as you been 13 months for me :(
I might just take a bit of your courage and do the same! x

Back from the Dr....
Semen analysis for DH, temping and 3 months of Chlomid and then see her again. I'm kind of freaked out by the chlomid....she said bad period symptoms all month long - acne and 8times more likely for twins. Is anybody else taking it?
(@kitcatbaby - no, I'm in NYS)

Chlomid is the next step for me too :) but I have to carry on by myself until July before I get a prescription :(
Sorry if I'm bring stupid but NYS?

What I don't get is that she said to do the Chlomid and then if that didn't work to do all the heavy duty testing - but shouldn't it be the other way around?? Soooo confusing.

Wow so jealous that you live in New York! Anywhere near the big Apple? I've never been but would love to :)
I agree that it seems odd to get the Chlomid before the tests! I've had all the tests done and still can't get it until we've been trying for 18months.

nothing to be jealous of - I'm in Western NY not even close to the big apple..I've never even been there. This is actually one of the highest taxed states in the country because of New York City, so that makes it kindof...suck..lol Where in the UK are you? My family came from Shropshire...
Yeah, I guess I thought it would be different when I finally went to my 12 month Dr. apt. It sort of seems like she was just like - not going as planned - here take some drugs. I guess I'm going to go for it, but can you only go on it for 3 to 6 months ever? I know that is something they would give you in different assisted ttc scenarios as well?

It's so interesting the way the US does it versus Canada. I'm guessing the healthcare system has a lot to do with it since the testing in Canada is all covered (it's the IUI/IVF that aren't).

I've noticed most of the girls from Canada, on the forum, have had ultrasounds done. Their CD3 and CD21 bloodwork. Sperm analysis. HSG. Then if all clear, they go to clomid.

Have you had any of those done yet?

Good luck to you! Let us know how everything goes. :flower:

Oh so its not as cool as I first thought then? I live in north Wales very close to shropshire :)
I think the longest you can be on chlomid is 6months at a time but you can have a break and do another 6months as far as I know.
Here in the UK we are so lucky that pretty much everything is funded by the NHS. Most areas of the UK we even get a few IVF cycles for free :)

I think it's very strange that they put you on Clomid before testing...unless there was an issue w/ DH SA. Once they find the source of the problem, they usually stop testing. (Just my opinion from the 2 fertility centers I've been to). Since no problem has been found yet, I would think they would do some testing first. Maybe this is how some places do it though.

I was able to avoid heavy testing because my DH had low sperm count. They only did a (water test I think it was called) to make sure my uterine lining was strong enough to carry a baby but that was it.

Clomid can't really hurt, especially only for 3 months so maybe he's trying to speed things along for you.

Good luck! I hope it does the trick!

I did have preliminary blood work done in July 2010 and an ultra sound in July 2011, but I haven't done the dye test or the extensive blood work. DH semem analysis is scheduled for 2/13 (happy Valentine's day...lol) and I will be starting the chlomid mid-early March. Then see her again after three months with my BBT chart. I will just try it. I feel better now seeing that alot of you guys feel positively about it. I think it's just when I went it to this I had this idea of not forcing anything, but sometimes maybe things just need that extra push or maybe they wouldn't happen otherwise.

On a side note - I bought the drug store brand Basil Body Thermometer and yesterday my temp was 96.7?? It is supposed to 'beep' when ready and it never seems to beep - this am it was 97.5 - does't seem accurate to me seeing as there wasn't even a spot for 96 on my chart....can anyone recommend me a better one?

Thanks for the support ladies :) I know I can always can find that here.

Looks like they are doing everything right now that I see that DH SA will be done next and then clomid the following month. I thought they were putting you on clomid with no results from either of you and that seemed backwards. Sounds like you are on the right track. I never did BBT so I can't help you there but I guess it's a good tool for them to see where you're at. Good luck & keep us posted!

Hey hun I tried a similar product called conceive plus its the UK version of preseed. We used it at Ov time for 5 cycles with no luck but I must say it was a very nice lube ;) I hope you have more luck getting your bfp with the preseed :)

Oh I see, i recommend using preseed as ive heard so many success stories, you can buy it online in the UK for a reasonable price here https://www.sme-fertility.co.uk/fertility-lubricants/pre-seed-multi-use-lubricant/action/reviews/

im going to buy it tomorrow and use it a couple of days before ovulation and the day before if possible, heres hoping! x
