Making the Switch from TTC #1 to LTTTC #1

Hello all...This is my fourth cycle of clomid so if you are curious about taking it I might be able to give you answers or at least my experience with the drug. Clomid is used to help you ovulate. My doctor didn't test me fully before allowing me to take clomid either. She was supposed to test to see if my fallopian tubes were blocked last month, but instead decided to pass me off to RM.:growlmad: Each month I have had 1-3 mature follicles, but still no :bfp:. Also, clomids side effects can mimic early pregnancy symptoms...

There is an hcg trigger shot that can be given to you mid-cycle to force you to ovulate (my dr. refused to give to me so not sure the effects). I wish you all the best of luck with clomid! There really are so many success stories. Another fertility drug to keep in mind is Femara. It is very similiar to clomid, but with less side effects. I hope this helps figure out clomid at least a little.
Baby dust to all!

This is my first post, as I really haven't found anywhere I feel I belong! I'm actually in the 2WW, but all the symptom spotting posts are annoying! My husband and I have been TTC our first one for 8 years now. I'm on my first cycle of Clomid, currently taking Prometrium for the second half of my cycle. I've had laparoscopies, HSG, FS, and the hubby has been checked too. There's nothing wrong with us, and it's frustrating! I had an ectopic 6 years ago, and nothing until 6 months ago, and I've had 3 miscarriages since.

Welcome ladies. Hope you enjoy it over here. I moved over at about 18months ttc, i do still pop over the other side occasionally to remind myself how excited i was to begin with.

nothing to be jealous of - I'm in Western NY not even close to the big apple..I've never even been there. This is actually one of the highest taxed states in the country because of New York City, so that makes it kindof...suck..lol Where in the UK are you? My family came from Shropshire...
Yeah, I guess I thought it would be different when I finally went to my 12 month Dr. apt. It sort of seems like she was just like - not going as planned - here take some drugs. I guess I'm going to go for it, but can you only go on it for 3 to 6 months ever? I know that is something they would give you in different assisted ttc scenarios as well?

Oh so its not as cool as I first thought then? I live in north Wales very close to shropshire :)
I think the longest you can be on chlomid is 6months at a time but you can have a break and do another 6months as far as I know.
Here in the UK we are so lucky that pretty much everything is funded by the NHS. Most areas of the UK we even get a few IVF cycles for free :)

My doctor and I had this very conversation on Monday. I told him that I read that women can only be on Clomid for up to six months...I've been on it since September so if that's the case then I only have one shot left. He said that I can safely be on it for six to nine months. So if by June we aren't pregnant, then that's it. Our medical insurance doesn't cover anything infertility relate and we can't afford to go the next steps, so that'll probably be it for us.
