March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Thanks Mitch. You're right, to look at Dharma makes everything better (apart from last night when she had been screaming for six hours solid).

Al's just taken his parents for lunch and left us for peace and a feed.

Predicting 100% girlie bump.....8lb 3oz.....11:45pm tonight x

8LB 3OZ? hahahahahahahahaha my prediction for myself is 11lb!

thanks ladies.... lets hope i continue to labour tonight and get that natural water birth :winkwink:

ps missy.... my MW this morning was called leslie.... she was lush xxx so lovely xxx

Loo - :hugs: Good on Al giving you a break :)

Get out Digs, time's up!!! :haha:

Oh and Loo i'm with you on the hours of screaming and then sleeping/ not feeding thing! Last night was not good, ended up crying in frustration! I just was sat there thinking "argh i can't stop her crying, and i'm supposed to know what i'm doing!!" Rubbish mum moment! :hugs: Some nights are good, some are bad, but for sure 4am is a bad time to assess your parenting skills! :dohh:

(((Loo and Emera))) I can remember the crying and the frustration with my second. I actually suffered with antenatal depression during most of my pregnancy because I was terrifed of going through all that again. Fingers crossed so far I have been lucky with Jessica, but there's still plenty of time for her to realise she's now on the outside.

FT - Everything crossed you get the water birth you want.

So Finally- here's a few pictures of Evelyn:baby: She is amazing.

Breastfeeding is getting slightly better, I'm still having a hard time getting her to latch correctly. My poor nipples are sore. I'm hoping it'll get better over the next few days.
She slept last night 4 hours straight so I feel like a new person today:thumbup:

:hugs:Loo. Glad you got some quiet time with Dharma

KK she's gorgeous and Evelyn is such a beautiful name. It was on my short list, but I let the husband name this one. Fair's fair :D

KK - I love the name Evelyn too, very pretty (and so is she)!

I was wondering about when the crying would start for me after reading your posts (during a middle of the night half asleep feeding)... but I just realized my hormones leveled out a long time ago! lol (but apparently not the baby brain!)

Hey all, had a good but kind of shitty week really. Ted feeding and sleeping well but his cord is infected, my scar is worse, so its still killing me. Had to change antibiotics which has made Teds tummy horrible (he even shat up the wall one night, was impressive!!)

Evening Lads...

Hope we're all ok at this end...and the hormonal/sleepless night hasn't left us all too ragged today. Noah eventually finished his mammoth feeding frenzy at 4am this morning so am feeling somewhat zombie like today!! And might have made the mistake of feeding twice on one boob last night and woke up nearly exploding on the other side :dohh: made for a slightly spurty feed! Poor Noah!

Loo - massive hugs mate...with you on the constant cycle of nappies/nipples/burping/visitors. Not a pleasant cycle when it recurs every hour on the hour...how long do these growth spurts last?! Bloody knackering for me and my nips. Ouch. I am loving the lansinoh today. Glad Al took care of the visitors temporarily...Hope you and Dharma had some quality you time together...

MsC - you keeping ok??? Loved the lying down shot from yesterday - not tried it yet...bit scared i'd fall asleep!!!! I am feeding in bed at night but upright - coccyx pain keeps me awake long enough to feed!!! :dohh:

Mitch - sorry to hear about your complications with BP - frustrating when you feel so well and you don't need anything to disturb these first few days with Mia but it is good that they are keeping an eye on you...had no idea you could get pre-eclampsia post-birth (in fact i don't understand how you can!). Hope Mia doing ok - it's odd how you get really good nights followed by a terrible one - Noah had a bad one last night and we're like zombies today - i'm assuming its all growth spurt related and a short-term thing... just keep remembering that we're all here with you in the same place with the same fears/hopes/expectations/pressures...:hugs: i just find BF at night quite a lonely thing when its not going well - as soon as its dawn and a new day I get all positive about it again!!!

Right...picture time!!! :cloud9:

EDIT - oooh Missy - sounds nasty...poor you and Ted! hope your scar and his stump get sorted quick. and i do not like the sound of poo on wall - we were disturbed enough by wee up wall - my DH would have a heart attack if it was poo!!! :haha: sending much love to you both - get better soon please!! xxx

Gorgeous pics. For those ladies not on fb i promise i will get some pics of my Mia up here asap. She is a doll. I keep forgetting to take photos of her and time is going to pass so quickly i will miss out. Plus she is on my lap now...looks like an angel and i dont havea camera to hand...not even mobile (hubby having his power nap now:haha:).

Waula...i feel you on the boob pain....i go to give a feed half asleep and forgdt which boob she had last time:haha:....i am going to have to.start making a note of it with the times at night (i do this still)...

Anyone else get a bit baby bluesie around this time of evening..i think its the anticipation of what sort of night we will have:wacko:

Ooohposted on other thread same question....when did you do first proper bath? Have been using cotton sool water a bit but not much...olive oil on dry skin on tummy....i was planning after a week...which could be tomorrow :happydance:. I am not using any products for first 4 weeks though

Freyja has had a couple of baths Mitch we still just use a drop or two of lavender oil in Roh's bath, so she went in with him (he has a bubble bath once a week or so).

As far as rememberng which boob is which, I have a trick from lasty time I found today, its just a safety pin with a little bow of ribbon tied to it. I pin it on the side I need to feed next (so when I feed from the left I take the pin and put it on the right side). Sounds silly but it helps me not to have a boob explode come the morning when I'm totally braindead!

Missy, sorry tohear about your infections and medication induced exploding poos! :hugs: hope you both heal up and feel back to full form asap! :hugs:

Waula - growth spurts the pre-spurt feeding frenzy tends to last about 2-3 days tops and then its followed by a couple of sleepier days when they do their growing. Newborns can grow obscenely fast, like they can actually grow about a cm overnight!!! they grow when they sleep, that's why they stock up first. Then they sleep loads, wake up, guzzle and back to sleep again. ;)

Loving the piccies, Evelyn and Noah are so sweet!!

Think Freyja has finished her guzzling and has been sleepy since this afternoon. Fingers crossed for a sleepy night! We have our 10 day check tomorrow, a tad late, but the weekend got in the way, and I transfered us back to the clinic rather than home visits as I was bored waiting in all day for the MWs visits.
Our washing machine is officially fixed now and workng reliably, so we now have both kidlets in cloth nappies. Now watch me vanish under a mountain of laundry!! :haha: Freyja has a giant bum and looks a bit like a Weeble! :D

Hey laddies

Lovely photos of Noah and Evelyn!

Waula! BF is ok, we share the same patterns except last night she slept from 12-5 and then cluster fed until 10am but it was easier, as you say, with the light of a new day.

Thinking of you Loo, I hope you've managed some peace.

Mitch, we used infacol one night in desperation and thought it had helped. A midwife sniffed "well it takes 3 days to build up and work" and promptly showed me how to wind Edith properly - far further over my shoulder than I had dared. Since then I've not bothered with the infacol.

You can buy little bead bracelets which say "this one next" to remind you which breast is the next course.

Bath - I was shown how to bathe her in hospital and do so every few days but followed Waula's lead, ditched the baby bath and got in with her. I just use water and cotton wool right now.

I often use the laid back/biological nurturing position at night as she spits up less. I catch myself nodding off and as long as she's on the left breast that's on the inside of the bed, I don't stress as my arm supports her there.

Keep chugging ladies, we're all doing well.

emera I need to see a photo of Freyja in her cloth nappy please!!! :flower: hope she's feeling better after her cold??? xxx

mitch- im giving mason his first real bath either today or tomorrow. im using a mix i already made for my little ones that has some lavender oil in it. i remember which side he fed on last by wearing a bracelet on the wrist of the side i used last. my DD2 likes to make bracelets, so she made me a real cute one. when i feed him i switch it to the wrist thats on the same side. then i dont have to think about it in the middle of the night too much.

here is my bf bracelet felicia made me...:cloud9:

Mitch, I'm with you on the evening blues, and that's exactly what I have pin pointed it as, the expectation of the night ahead. It's still tough though.

We've had a bad afternoon with her screaming blue murder every time she is put down in her basket or crib (or on the bed after a feed or on her changing mat). She just can't settle herself and even if we decide to hold her until she is sleeping, once we put her down she screams again.

Am wondering about a dummy, but want to 100% establish bf before we do. Which we are not there with yet.

I'm so so so sorry about my continuous moaning on here, and I really wish I was being more positive. I'm generally better in the mornings. Not left the house today which is bad, so that's the order of the day for tomorrow.

Oh, bf question. Once you have fed and she has fallen off you wind/change etc and try her again. Do you go back to the same breast or change? I have been going back to the same one, but been advised to change to the other. I just think I am going to confuse myself by swapping as the 2nd feed is often longer than the 1st, and sometimes she even has a 3rd 'course'

Loo...it depend on how long Mia fed for before i change her and out her back on. I am no.expert but apparently it is good to put them back on same breast as they then get to the hindmilk which is the good stuff.....midwife says thats at least 10minute on breast to reach it typically. Mia generally feeds for 10 minutes then change then 10 minutes...but can be a little less on second session.....sometimes can be longer overall. Depends really.

So same breast for me then a new one on next feed...

Oh and midwife said to.avoid dummy til bf established......and also apparently they can tire themselves out chewing on.dummy and not bf strongly during feed...... I though about it but will leave for another week or so.
