March Mamas 2012 Baby Group (Closed Group)

Loo, don't worry too much, wouldluv is right about the times and Edith has done 6 hours twice I think. I've woken up in a state of rising panic as I realise it's ages since I fed her but she has promptly awoken a moment later and squawked at me so I don't think it's a biggie. A change and a feed and it's all ok.

Thank you thank you thank you!

Dharma did 5 hours in one stint last night, so I was a bit worried, but the midwife has just told me to relax, and the extra sleep would have done us both good!

She has lost just slightly less than the 10%, but again, the midwife was not concerned until it over over the 10%. She is down to 6lb4oz now. However, she showed me how to latch on properly, and immediately it seemed to be making a difference how deeply she was swallowing, so hopefully she can start to put on a bit of timber now :)

Feel a lot more relaxed this morning, and know I need to stay social and active to avoid these blues that have plagued my past few days.

I have a beautiful daughter. She is fit and well. Apart from a bit of sleep deprevation, I have everything to be thankful for. :cloud9:

When they are tiny like under a month they need at least 8 feeds in 24, so if they are having 6 good feeds in the day for example tben you can leave them for longer gaps at night or its every 3 hours, roughly. Basically once they have the day 10 check if they are back close to birth weight I'd stop waking them and go with full demand feeding. You'll find they wake up. Anyway pretty close to the recommended times.

Loo - sounds like you are doing great! :hugs: sounds lke your brain is a bit melty, but that's par for the course I think!

Mitch - your night sounds perfect! in fact yay everyone for a good night!!! enjoy your saturdays!

We are still deep in growth spurt territory and as a result had a night of feeds every hour and a half. Interspersed with poonamis and epc winding sessions. Yawn yawn yawn!! I'm rather sleepy! Better get out for a walk this afternoon it will make me feel better I think ;)

Oh Wouldluv Freyja is doing the projectiile vomit thing too! I was pretty freaked out the first time, as Roh never did anything like it! Mind you he didn't guzzle like she does, and he was a much more gentle feeder, so probably paced himself a bit better. I know from experience that my flow can be quite fast, but its definitely more to do with how they eat, as Roh was fine, and its the same boobs! My immediate fear was reflux, but I've seen a baby with reflux, and its a whole other ball game! Yes there is lots of sick coming out compared to normal spit up, but its defnitely not the full feed, and she's not getting upset by it so I'm thinkng its caused by greediness and trapped wind. Like yoou its random, not every feed. Also she's often coming off coughing like she's choked on milk halfway through a feed, put together it implies greedy baby not sicky baby. I'll be askng the MW on monday though when we go in.

Loo......OMG i love my baby daughter so much right now...the clever little girl (and apparently mummy too) has managed to lose less than 2% of birth weight. She has dropped from 2.8kg to 2.76kg....in english thats 6lb 3 oz to 6lb 1oz :happydance::happydance::happydance:

I am soooo chuffed i could cry...and thats all from bf...no formula. Has made me consider not even trying that for a while again:haha:. If i have another night like last night i will be well happy...though i could do with a 5 hour stint like little Dharma too...but i am not greedy..

Midwife had to prick her heel 3 times to get...hopefully....enough blood:cry:. Though Mia seemed more upset by the re-robing to get weighed rather than the blood taking :haha:

I am on:cloud9: right now...such a clever girl

Unfortunately in mummy territory...BP still way high...midwife has gone for another appt.and is popping back...hoping that seeing Mia crying was stressing me slightly. Hmmmmm i have been diagnosed with white coat syndrome before....spiking bp when a cuff is put on but perfectly.normal on.24 hour monitor but that was a couple of years ago so i am going to take their advice and get rechecked if they want. Dont feel sick, ill, headachey etc so probably nothing.

Mitch hope you are ok :hugs: well done with Mia's weight that's fantastic such a small loss! You must be doing a great job with feeding her! I was thinking of suggesting to you, if you are keen to try her on a bottle, why not express a bit and see how she takes that? That way you weon't be messing with her gut flora. Hshrug: just a thought. ;) its what I did with Roh, he had a nice big bottle of expressed milk before bed and then he'd sleep 10-3/4am which was lovely! I'm not adverse to combi feeding either, like you, but as your milk is doing such a great job, you may as well use it! Any formula you have in the house will be handy for weaning when you get there if you end up not using it ;)

Loo, was really pleased to hear that Dharma has kept under the 10% loss, great news :) clearly she's still totally awesome like her mummy!

Aww, its so nice hearing from you guys, all loved up and experiencing this all for the first time, it makes me smile loads reading how you are doing :)
Its so different second time round! But I do get lovely things like Roh just wanting to kiss and cuddle Freyja for half the morning, and he was very upset I wouldn't let him take her to bed for his nap so he could cuddle her more. Very cute!

Oh, on the weight front, but mine rather than babies' I weighed myself today, and. Only have 5lb to go to my pre-preggo weight :) really pleased :) once I get there its only 3 stone to my pre-Roh weight! :haha:

loving the baby love today lads!!!! i'm going to have to join in too!! sat here feeding noah, its not hurting, he's making the cutest little squeals and holding my hand :cloud9:

huge congrats to Loo and Mitch for being just fabulous - us and our boobs are pretty immense aren't they!!!! Mitch - glad they're keeping an eye on your BP hun xxx

Oh congrats on your weight Emera! I haven't lost any of my pregnancy weight, grr!

Hello? Am I allowed to join? I noticed it says closed group at the top.

I had my third daughter by elective c-section on 9th March 2012 at 18:25, weighing 6lb 15oz.

City - I LOVE not being pregnant, bleugh I hate pregnancy, I basically feel like crap the whole time! So I'm still having some SPD issues and the growler is a bit on the aching side still, but I feel a million times better than I did a month ago!!

On a different note, Roh has had a cold all week, and I think Freyja has it now :( it seems so unfair, not even 2 weeks old and she has a cold :(

Ah, baby love... I'm on :cloud9: today. My daughter is amazing. I love everything about her, and I keep looking at her to make sure it wasn't all a dream!!

I do have some questions though, as I just had her less than three days ago. Did anyone else tear, and if you did, do you still hurt? I was doing okay until the evening yesterday when they really started to hurt, and they sting every time I change positions today. It's almost a sharp pulling feeling like my stitches are going to pop out. Any advice? I've been using ice, and that helps, and taking ibuprofen, but I really want the pain to go away so I can start to feel normal again. Help please - I hate feeling like such an invalid!

Aahh laddies. So lovely to feel the love in this thread. Having been through experience myself, it only makes me feel more excited, yet slightly impatient :haha: to go through it again :)

All this chat though has made me think of things I'd forgotten about.

Emera - does it all come back to you?

Hope to join you all soon, preferably in March!!

Edit - crowned, I felt worse after about day 4-5 in agony, then everything seemed to get better. I used to have tea tree oil and lavender in my bath, plus arnica tablets. It will get better :hugs:

i love reading all your posts! hopefully i will be here in just a couple of days...

im feeling a little bit nervous about the birth now, i think the main thing keeping me going is that all the other women in the world seem to be able to do it so i must be able too!

you guys have some great tips especially for BF

im soooooooooooooo nervous for induction tomo now :( but love reading about all your lovely babies - reminds me of what its all about! (as if i could forget haha) :cloud9:

Thank you Citymouse, I will do my best to keep up. But if I can't no biggy, I certainly wouldn't blame anyone on this thread for it.

Emera, I hated being pregnant this time round, which I felt really spoilt it as this was my last pregnancy and I really wanted to enjoy it. However I felt dreadful 99.9% of the time. I hope both Roh and Freyja feel better soon.

Crowned, no advice on those sorts of stitches as I had a section, but I can understand the stinging and going to pop feeling moving. If you're concerned you can always asks your doctor or midwife to give them a glance over. Try taking both paracetamol and ibuprofen for the pain. Widger is right about arnica, it helps with the bruising, you can use either cream or tablets.

Widger, Jessica is my third and my other children are 14 and 6. I was pooping myself that I would have forgtten everything and wouldn't know what to do. But it all came flooding back

Welcome to the thread SeaThreePeeO :) Glowstar, who has yet to give birth to her third also has a bit of an age gap. Hope you can be of mutual support!

Glad you're staying in Lozza as the midwives are so helpful. Glad to hear you're ok and you've managed a good feed :) The as-yet-unnamed-lovely-boy sounds like he's doing amazingly.

I hope Freyja and you all make a quick recovery Emera.

Crowned, I had an episiotomy and I was sore for about 3-4 days after. Occasionally whilst going to the loo I still feel a little delicate there but it's very much improved. If you have any concerns do you have a visiting midwife who can check you're healing ok? Mine offered a check on discharge but the hospital had already done so.

Will think of you tomorrow FT!!

Waula, so pleased you managed to turn something you were peeved about into something so positive. Especially if it ends in scrumptious baby clothes :cloud9: so I think we'll all be asking you for advice next week when some of our partners go back to work.

It's been a stressful day, lots of back-to-back feeding with some nipple chomping (annoying after days of good feeds) which followed another disturbed night. Feeling a little destroyed. Friends came over with food which was so kind but I was feeding Edith and feeling mentally fragile so I didn't want to see anyone. Today mum and dad might have visited and the fact they couldn't hurt more than I can share with them (it just makes mum feel more torn with priorities). It follows mum pulling out of visiting last week because my dad was suddenly discharged as he's making such good progress following the stem cell transplant. Roll on day 100. MrC has been everything I needed though. I am dreading being alone next week.

I did have some down time, sort of, a lying down feed which sent Edith off to sleep (I hope long enough to eat dinner). I'm double posting here and on the baby thread just to share this image.
