Hi everyone,
So my little boy is 4 weeks old this coming Sunday and I have been breast feeding since birth.
Last night I started to get a hot, heavy sore left breast which was also a little red too.
So I went to my gp this morning and she confirmed that I have mastitis.
She has prescribed me antibiotics so I have started them.
My confusion is that she has said to regularly feed off the infected breast, including draining it.
The thing is I alternate between feeds, so for example the next time I feed him it will be on my right breast which I let him drain and then he has a short feed on the other breast.
Obviously at the next feed it would be the other way around.
My question is am I supposed to drain the infected breast at every feed?
I am worried about over supply as I think that particular breast has more milk already and I don't want to encourage it.
My little guy feeds every 3-4 hours too if that makes any difference.
Thanks inadvance for your replies x
