So I understand that you have a qualifying period and within that period you must be working for 26 weeks and you choose 13 weeks when you earnt most.

So does this mean if I had some weeks when I did not work at all- will I still qualify as long as I work at least 26 weeks within the 66 weeks period and I have 13weeks when o earn over £30?

This would mean I would be better off on maternity allowance than when I was working as presumably you would get the average of the 13 weeks, each week for 37 weeks straight?

I think I've got it but if anyone has any personal experience it would be helpful to get it straight in my mind !

Oh this is interesting I didn't think I would be entitled to anything if I were to get pregnant with only having a casual contract.

I'm pretty sure your info is correct. I just left my job a day before I found out I was pregnant but I was a casual worker earning more than £30 a week. Anyhow I came across a website, probably the government one for maternity allowance that lists the qualifying weeks by your estimated due date if that makes sense. That way you can check which periods you would need to produce wage slips for and when you can make your claim. I believe they pay it for 39 weeks.

Yes, maternity allowance you get to pick 13 weeks out of the 26 week (I think it's 26 weeks) period so just pick the ones you got paid the most.
