Hi girls,

So we're going ahead and getting a new car seat for lo.
I want to do extended rear facing and wondered if anyone had bought the maxi cosi opal?

Or has anyone got any other suggestions?

:hugs:

I read some bad reviews on the maxi cosi opal, but can't remember where i read them, sorry. I guess with all reiews there will be a mix of good and bad, but i got mostly bad. To me it looked flimsy, epecially for a maxi cosi - but maybe i am just being too picky.
I really want to extend rear face LO, especially as he is nearly too tall for his car seat now and he is only 6 months but we can't afford the really expensive rear facing seats and the britax first class ( which does extend rear face) does not fit our car. However LO can sit reliably for 3o minutes and is heavy enough for forward facing so we will have to go forward facing as soon as he gets too all for his car seat :-(

Thanks for your reply hun! I'm in two minds about it, I think I keep searching.

I looked at an opal and wasn't impressed. It seemed pretty flimsy like dawnlouise said. I narrowed it down to the besafe izi combi or the cybex sirona. We went with the cybex because it allowed more space for the front passenger. Plus I'm a sucker for gimmicks and the swivel seat sold it for me x

I'm having to start looking at ERF seats for my LO as he's tall for his age.
If you don't mind me asking, his much is the cybex? X

wow just looked at the cybex - it looks brill and fits our car.... may have to talk to DH about extended rear facing, just wonder how it would fair with a tall child in it whilst rear facing. LO is only 6 months but in 9-12 months clothes already and very long.

We paid £400. Expensive I know but it's LOs safety at the end of the day. I think it should last a long time rear facing. It doesn't matter if their legs are bent. The cybex goes forward facing as well if need be and it has one of those impact cushions which are the best forward facing option. I am very pleased with it, it makes getting her in the seat loads easier!

Thanks girls, I'm not gone on isofix so I'll have to look into more.
xx

Hi. Ive got a Maxi cosi Opal and its great. Very comfy, sterdy and safe :) x

What about the Britax first class plus anyone??

Yeah it is! But I'm from Ireland not UK. Lol

I'd look at the besafe izi combi. It's available in izo fix and belted x

I just bought a Maxi Cosi Opal for my car. I tried a few car seats in Mothercare at the weekend and she looked the most comfy in this one. DH has a Recaro Young Sport in his car and he said he thought the Opal was much more secure when fitting it in my car. I wanted to keep our lady in rear facing for as long as possibly but she is nosey and wants to know everything thats going on and could almost turn her body round in her Cabriofix!! xx
