Maya Ring Sling question

I recently bought a Maya Ring Sling, but I can't for the life of me get it to work properly! :dohh: The rings slip way down from my shoulder and across my chest whenever I pull on the tail to tighten the sling. I definitely got too large a size--I'm 5'3" but very thin, and I got the medium, which said it was for 5'2-5'9. Could this be the only problem, and returning it for a small be the solution? Or is there something obvious that I'm doing wrong?? I know it's probably hard to answer this without seeing me use it, but any advice would be appreciated. For reference, my baby is 4 months old and I'm trying to carry her in the legs-out tummy-to-tummy carry (she doesn't have enough control of her torso yet for a hip carry).

Could you post a picture?

The rings will move lower when you tighten it though so you want to start with the rings higher than you want them when LO is snug.

Make sure the fabric is spread out well in the rings, not folded and with the top rail at one edge and the bottom rail at the other edge. That way the fabric can be adjusted easier without tugging so hard on the rings.

Tighten the bottom rail before you put baby in, it should be tight against your body. Then move the rings up to the top of your shoulder or even slightly behind your back before putting baby in.

Use your knee or arm to support baby's weight whilst adjusting. When you tighten, do it strand by strand and pull the fabric towards where it came from (so when you tighten the bit by baby's neck/back pull the fabric towards there) rather than pulling down.

Hope that helps. Ring slings can be tricky to get the hang of at first!

Unfortunately, BnB isn't letting me post photos right now--they upload to a certain point and then stop

I'll give this a try--the instructions that came with it (and most of what I've found online) have you start with the rings just in front of your shoulder. Thank you (and I love your avatar!! :haha:)
