Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

awww ava is so cute :cloud9:

lisa glad daniel is doing ok, and good to hear ur ok except the duct.

wiggler is it ur bday sunday? its mine next friday :happydance:

had an unsettled night lastnight so im fooked today, were going to all get bathed in a bit and then have a day of chilling and housework, im not up for getting us all out for the day lol.

rugby ball position always helped when i was clogged up,

online shopping today, miss my jeans and my pre preg ones were falling off me yesterday  my wardrobe is looking very empty, i tried almost everything on yesterday and had dh sit and tell me what needed to go or stay, its all far too big for me, wat a good excuse to spend lol :) xx

not sure wiggler, possibly get my mum to have the girls and go for a meal with dh and take luca with me, im thinking of italian they are baby friendly, and give them cuddles if they cry while ur eating etc.. or have a few friends over, in which case dh would bugger off out as he cant stand siting with a bunch of women lol. i think id rather spend some time with dh tho, we dont get much time alone, and if the girls come over id prob only manage a glass of wine and be ready for bed. we shall see lol x

afternoon ladies!
Better night had here thank goodness, sticking to the hv's rules of 4 oz and keeping him "jollyed" along until at least 3 hours before feeding him again. The coleif seems to possibly be helping too, im pretty convinced the crying is mostly stomach ache and wind!

Sorry a few of you are having a bad tim breast feeding, makes me wish i'd carried on readinghow you are all doing. Makes me so cross that i didn't get offered any help until 4 days after coming home and by then i was in so much pain i had to stop and so not to upset him even more felt it best to carry on with the formula. Still leaking now 2 weeks on, its almost like its saying "are you sure you don't want to? are you sure?" still beat myself up about it and i know i shouldn't!

don't beat urself up about it charlotte, i did with lo 3 and ended up making myself ill over it, so much so i point blank refused to even attempy bf this time, which is silly as i have successfully bf my first 2 lo's. having said that, every mw and hv and gp ive seen so far this time have said they are glad in so many respects that ive ff, id no way have managed aswell bf as dh is working all day every day, it's a tight schedule with the 4 of them and very little help.

waiting for Luca to wake for his next feed, should quickly hoover first but my butt too comfy on sofa lol x

Charlotte, even though I have struggled, I haven't been offered any help, and at the moment am stuck expressing as Sam just won't latch, and Sam has had an eye infection and haven't been able to go to the BF support group to try and get it sorted. :( My MW helpfully said my brain wasn't working as I didn't have much milk, hmm.... xx

24, She said your brain isnt working?! OMg thats awful:hugs: Its so good you've managed to keep expressing for so long, I'd have chucked the pump out the window long ago.

Happy birthday to you tomorrow wiggler and you next friday wild:cake:

Lovely to hear from you again Lisa:hugs: Hope your plugged duct passes.

Wild, how you finding 4? I'm having great fun, lol more the merrier:happydance:

Eilidh finally pooped last night after the suppository so she was very hungry. She slept from 9pm though until around 3am then 4am to 9am so pretty well rested although boobs like rocks! Hubby is working again but going to take a break in an hour or so to take us for mcdinner then he wants to go subway tonight:wacko:

Mils Ava is adorable:cloud9:

Its hard work, but I hope if I keep going evetually, hopefully this wednesday if Sam's eye is better we can finally go and get it sorted. :D

Was changing a poo earlier, when Sam continued pooing and it went all over the table, went to clear that up and he started weeing, then another poo that flew over the wall?! :o:D xx

Its really disheartening when I read how unsupportive Hvs and MWs have been especially with BF. I'd definitely have given up if it wasnt for my MW.

Is everyone set for fathers day tomorrow? According to my calender UK and US celebrate it same day.

Wild think it would be lovely to have dinner with DH for your birthday!

George has been giving so many smiles and coo's to my parents, they are so made up :) Oh speaking of whom, think he demanding mummy craddle him to sleep lol  my mum has always said to me not to rush to a crying baby blah blah blah and I was trying to ignore georges moans until he upset, but she just came over and said she wanted to cuddle him to sleep lol I laughed and she said dont say it, I dont get to see him much, grandma's rules are always different to home rules!

:haha: Babies huh! Little Sam could teach Eilidh a thing or two about going lol

Hope you do get it sorted after Sam's eye is better:hugs:

I hope you get to go on Wednesday hun!

I changed George earlier and he passes wind which erm resulted in poops following, just has my hand was there! i thought my dad was going to explode with laughter lol

Awe. Ava is so cute!

Lisa, good to hear from you. Hope the duct clears soon. I feel your pain!

Wild, I can't wait to do some shopping also. You have a fab excuse!

My boob is still blocked, but it seems to have improved a little. I'll keep working it out even though it feels like I'm being stabbed.

Hope Brandi is doing well!

Mummy, we're not sure what we're doing yet. Waiting for OH to get home to decide.

New, I'm excited for Fathers Day. I ordered a photo book of pictures of Luke for OH and can't wait to give it to him.

Not much here, I went in the shower all by myself! Then I went to town, got some essential bits I needed, my little sister took Joshua for the day so me and little man went to my sisters to get some money she owed me (:haha: she didnt know I was down never mind collecting debts lol). george has been so awake today we had a lovely afternoon chatting lol Joshua has just been returned and now we are thinking about dinner, bacon and cabbage or chinese hmm decisions lol

Tomorrow i go for my measuring for my bridesmaid dress! I wish I had lost a bit more weight :( but I am down to a size 12, we anticipated a size 14 so Ive done better than we thought I would lol

What you up to hun xx

Have fun when OH gets back bizy, bet he'll love the pics, great idea!

Ooh a shower alone is the height of luxury:cloud9: Lol at your sister. A size 12 is perfect hun, I bet you look awesome:happydance:

Not much happening here, got to keep kids away from hubby while he working, then out. Kids get to watch tv with some popcorn this evening and we need to drive in to Phoenix later to get my sons antibiotic.

Wild - sounds like you are going to have a lovely day on your Bday!

Mmmm Mcdinner :cloud9: Ick to subway though, I can't even walk past it, the smell is vile :haha:

24/7 -  Sam likes to make things difficult for his mummy :haha: I read somewhere that cleaning an eye with breastmilk can help with infection, I just googled it and there is loads of stuff saying it can help.

Not been up to much today, I was meant to be doing loads of tidying but my pelvis is sore and my stupid low BP is back and making me dizzy, one of the downsides of losing weight, so I just did a little bit. I spent ages playing cars and trains with Dylan earlier and we all went down the shop to get some bits for the fry up in the morning and so I could get OH a fathers day card. It was the first time I had worn Bethany in her carrier out, she loved it, she looked much more comfy that she does in her pushchair :cloud9:

hey Wiggler - I'm still struggling with my pelvis too :( shooting bone pains in my frontal pubic region suck. Can't sleep on my side and i feel my pelvis shift more than ever. Walking doesn't seem to aggravate it much but then again I just sit around on my butt most of the day :haha:

24/7 - Have you tried a nipple shield? I had a lot of latch issues with Daniel at first (still do sometimes) but its getting better and better.

Stupid plug won't budge.. I'm out of ideas (hot compress, hot shower, massage... can't nurse with chin in that direction since its a plug on the top of my breast and Daniel won't latch lying down in that direction).

you have probably tried all this, but I found this on the internet hbaout how to unclug the duct:

Apply moist heat before nursing (compresses, warm shower or bath, or leaning over a sink full of warm water). This will help increase circulation to the area and unclog the lump.

Sit around with a heating pad on a low setting between feedings, especially during the night. This can also help dissolve the clog.

Encourage the baby to nurse frequently (at least every two hours) and vary the nursing positions so pressure will be put on different ducts. One very strange but effective nursing position is "hands and knees". Try putting the baby down on the bed or on a blanket on the floor and lean over him on all fours. Let your breast hang straight down, falling freely from your ribcage. Try not to let anyone see you doing this because they will probably fall over laughing.

Sleep on your back or side without putting pressure on the sore breast.

Wear a supportive bra, but make sure it isn't too tight. Try to avoid under-wire bras.

Offer the sore side first, but before you do, try to hand express a little to soften the areola and get the milk started flowing before baby starts nursing. Gently massaging the lumpy area in a circular motion , starting behind the lump and working toward the nipple, can help loosen the plug Sometimes when the clogged milk is released, you may see something strange coming out of your nipple. It may look like a strand of spaghetti or a grain of sand. Don't be surprised - it's just the milk secretions working their way out. If the baby is nursing when this happens, you won't even be aware of it, and it won't hurt him if he swallows it. If you are pumping, however, it can be a little scary if you see this strange stuff coming out if you don't know what it is.

Get rest, rest, and more rest. If possible, find someone to help with the housework and other kids for a day or two and take your baby to bed with you. If that's impossible, try at least to eliminate any extra activities and find time to put your feet up for an extra couple of hours while you nurse.

Usually, if you follow these guidelines after discovering a plugged duct, you will feel better and the lumpy area will go away within twenty-four hours. Even if you have a low-grade fever (less than 101o), you may want to try the measures mentioned above before calling your doctor.
