Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

Awwww wild he's adorable:cloud9:

24, great night! Go Sam!

Eilidh slept from 9pm to 4.30am, she was up for over an hour and she's gone back to sleep now at 5 45am. Got her swaddled and on my chest, she's currently dribbling everywhere:haha: Would go back to bed but Anjas up and I dont want her up by herself, she's only 2.

Hubby brought Eilih through to me at 4 30am and let me know he was up all night  I know he has a work deadline but he is knackered.

Shame today has been horrendous, non stop winging, zzzzzzz!! xx

Wild - Awwwwww!!! Luca is gorgeous!

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone, having a brill day so far! Ended up getting to my mums over an hour late though cos there is a stupid train replacemt bus some of the way :growlmad: We have to leave early too to make sure we get home on time. Not sure if my friends are coming now cos of the trains not running :( but if they can't make it today we will just rearrange :)

Awe. Luca is adorable.

Lisa, every time I nurse him (which ranges from 2-3 hrs during the day), I put a hot pack on it to help ease the flow. I always start him on that side first because he has a stronger suck. After a few unbearable minutes I switch him to the other side (football hold) and continue to hand express some milk and massage the lumps. I was able to get more of the thick mucosy milk out today. After that, I put an ice pack on it for a little while. I've also taken 1 advil every few hours (consultant advised to take the edge off and help with inflammation). I've had this problem since late Thursday night and I'm finally starting to feel like it will end at some point. I was feeling pretty hopeless! Now my breast is no longer engorged and the lumps have moved down. Still hurts so badly though.
We have been using the seventh generation diapers, which seem to be working pretty well. We've only had one blow out so far. I think they run a little small though so I may have to update the size on my order by the next shipment. I think it's pretty easy to change it.

thanks ladies,

ive just spent some time re shaping my eyebrows, what a mess they were

Luca is flat out :happydance: about to make a start on dinner, minted lamb chops with creamy mash, cauliflower and runners mmmmmmmmm lol druels x

So I'm exhausted.... I got 2 stretches of less than an hour of sleep. This kid has so many issues with sleep. I feel bad for him, he's in so much pain at night.

Bizy- 14 cents per diaper, what a steal. How did you get such a steal? I was thinking of doing diapers.com because they now have a thing where you can get $5 off each box of diapers for every diaper you purchase and free shipping.

Wiggler- Happy birthday!!

Wild- You have a cutie on your hands!

thanks girls! :) (and can I add that I've missed you all!)
I do have to share that Daniel is now wearing size 2 diapers.. he's freaking HUGE :)
If only he would pee a little less often, I wouldn't be going through diapers so fast :haha: 14 wet diapers in one day is his personal record.

I know what that's like. Anberlin never stops peeing. I'm not even joking, I will change 5 wet diapers from the start of a feed to just before a nap...45 minutes to an hour. I will change her before her feed, and literally right when she latches, she pees again. She'll go all warm at the end of her feed again, and right before I put her down, she'll go through two more diapers. It's absolutely insane.

Happy Birthday Wiggler!!

So I should have my computer back on Friday. Yay!

For you ladies suffering with a plugged duct, I am here to rescue you...for the most part. Mine was severely plugged and ended with double mastitis, so hopefully that doesn't happen to you!! I realized just how plugged mine was when I gave Anberlin a bottle of expressed milk last week and she was sucking so hard but nothing was coming out, so I took it away from her and strained the milk and the plug was like a big quarter-sized snotball, then I had to fish the rest out of the nipple with my finger. Yuck!

It sounds weird, but do a dog-stance feed. Lay your baby on his back on the bed and stand over him on your hands and knees. The force of gravity will make it easier for your baby to get the plug out. Also, ALWAYS start from that side. If you have to, feed ONLY from that side and pump out the unaffected side. You may find that this increases your supply in one breast than the other. And keep up with the hot compresses and showers. Keep a compress on over the plug (whichever part of the breast is most affected) during the feed.

Mine took about 24 hours to resolve with these.

Well, I think my plug has cleared. Im no longer sore/bruised and my supply is almost back up to normal on that side. I still swear I feel a little lumpiness but I've read that it can stay inflammed for a little while after the clog passes so I dont' want to make it worse by rubbing it continuously if its just inflamed :)

Dang, Eilidh sleeps so well!
I thought I had it good that Daniel slept from 1am-7am last night, lol. Considering he last ate at 11:30pm, I think thats pretty good. I just have to teach him to go to sleep immediately after eating.

I'm freezing cold right now. Its not really THAT cold in my house but I feel like it is :( I don't want to relight the pilot light though, its such a pain then when it gets hot in a few days we'll just blow it out again.

Lisa lovely to see you back with us :) Glad the block is cleared, and sounds like Daniel is doing really well!

Happy birthday wiggler! Glad you've had a lovely day despite the trains. Did your friend make it?

Wild Luca is gorgeous!

24, glad Sam slept well for you :)

Hope everyone is having a lovely daddys day :) went for a meal with my dad before I came back home, was nice! I had my measurements taken today for my bridesmaid dress :) Im not going to be the fat bridesmaid :happydance: 3 bridesmaids, 1 is tiny, probably a Uk 6/8 lol but the other lass is a 12, and she measured me and said i was a 12 and I should try the dress on (the size 12 one is ready, the smaller one is in process of lol) but the size 12 fit me :happydance: so im already the same size as other bridemaid and a bit of toning i may be smaller yay!!!

George has been taking 4 hourly feeds for 3 days, and going 5/6 hourly at night (9-3, 3.30-8.30). Im still not sure my left boob is producing enough, but he goes on first then when he gets stressed i put him on the other which leaves him content :)

I'm so jealous of everyone's babies sleeping so well. I would be happy with a hour and 1/2 stretch at night.

It'll come hun, I really hope he settles soon, it cant be nice for either of you :hugs:

lucky - I've had some rough nights.. I just didn't have the energy to come on here and complain about them, :haha:

new - any chance your letdown is stronger on that side? Sometimes they squirm and fuss because the milk is squirting their mouth too hard

Anyone else have overbearing inlaws or family who kind of think the baby is 'theirs' too?
My MIL and SIL are driving me crazy and just hover over Daniel and they're always trying to come by and see him. I don't have the energy for guests and visitors and they're taking all the spare energy I have and I never have any leftover to see my friends.

Lisa im quite sure its a low supply, my boob on that side is VERY soft, and I dont feel the milk coming out like i do on the other side, I also cant hand express anything, whereas the other side is quite easy to do. the boob itself is a lot smaller than my other one too. I'll just keep putting him on that side first and hopefully the supply will increase itself.

Hope the in laws give you a break soon! A new baby is a family magnet!

Thanks ladies. We might go to the pediatrician this week if it keeps up. Stopping dairy takes up to 4 weeks to work and I don't want to go another 2 weeks waiting around to see if it helps his reflux too. I can't imagine it's good for either of us that he never gets any sleep at night. Poor baby has had diarrhea for over a week now too :(

Lisa- Mine and DH parents aren't too bad. We have to go to my husbands parents house tonight which I'm not happy about because I'm feeling like crap. I'm like you, I don't have enough energy for visitors yet. I want to say no but we did the other week, hoping my husband doesn't plan on staying long. It's kind of awkward eating dinner at someones house too when you can't have any dairy protein so you have to read every ingredient that goes into dinner. Does your MIL and SIL call before they come over? If so you could always not pick up. :haha:

Aww lucky:hugs: It will get better, maybe not immediately but it will. My kids ended up on gaviscon, ranitidine and domperidone to even attempt to help the reflux, sometimes its needed.

Lisa, lol Eilidh sleeps well now but she's 2 months older than the other babies so I did my time! Glad the plug is passing. We have the MIL coming next weekend, she's terrified of my small babies (she had 2 10lbers) but gets very very possesive over my 3 year old son:wacko:

Wiggler, sorry about the trains, did your friends make it?

New:happydance: I'm so jealous, size 12 is like my idea of perfect size. Pics?

Eilidh feeds around every hour to 2 hours during the day just not then the big 7/8 hour stretch at night. Her nappies are still newborn and she doesn't leak through them, I change them around every 2-3 hours and they are pretty wet. She's pretty good at barfing and soaking the front of her clothes though.

lucky- Don't worry about his nights! I was chuffed as Josh was sleeping so well but he's gone back to being terrible at night and crying in the evening again and i'm knackered so you're not the only one :(

george is still in size 1 nappies, but Im thinking about going up a size, they seem to fit lovely but they leak a little bit, but he is pooping side ways??!! so it leaks out from the left side but the right side of the nappy is perfectly clear  not sure if increasing the size will help with this lol

Mummy erm no pics, might try get some lol I dont feel like a 12, Im hoping once I tone up a bit i will start to feel better. I havent been close to a 12 in years, I was an 18 pre-pregnancy so i should feel amazing :( I'll try putting on some before and after photos that might help me feel a little better. I look down at myself and I dont feel any smaller at all, yet my size 12 jeans are loose! I so need to tone up a bit/lot lol

We have just left micro nappies and into newborn 1!! :D xx
