Mayhem Babies! May 2011 mummies and babies

Interesting...
By twelve months of age, most babies will be crawling and trying to walk. Parents should encourage crawling rather than early walking to help the child develop better eye-hand coordination.

Most babies learn to crawl between the ages of 7and 10 months. Your baby may opt for another method of locomotion around this time, though – like bottom shuffling (scooting around on her bottom, using a hand behind and a foot in front to propel herself), slithering on her stomach, or rolling across the room.

The first link is about developing hand eye coordination- I just find it interesting that they are now saying don't encourage them to walk, let them develop it naturally.....must do more reading on this...

Harvey- I'll take some pictures of what I have done when the sun is actually up! lol

:hi: new

Yeah right:nope: I'm sure work will believe you
Is there any food that gives bairns extra supplement to boost his calories until he eats more:shrug:
How's the cot building going?

lol Heyy that must be why George's hand co-ordination is sop awesome, he totally not interested in early gross motor development lol

I not built it yey, had an important morning with OH, I didnt want him doing anything strenuous he is seeing his cardiology specialist today so we just snuggles and lunch :cloud9: I will build it with Joshua's help later he'll love to help me :)

Let me know what you find heyy:thumbup: re- Walking: if Aaron gets up and toddles round then fine but I dont want to encourage it too much, not sure if it will effect his legs if I push it, I do put his walking wings on but only for a few mins as walking holding my hands aloft looks uncomfy for him and me!

I hope you didn't raise his heart rate too much

Have fun building the cot with Joshua:thumbup:

I love diy, but I hide the tools from hubby as he's useless with them:dohh: he's nearly electrocuted himself a few times now, flooded my lounge ceiling, doesn't follow instructions as he thinks he knows how to do something he's never done before:dohh:

I impress OH because he asked for a specific tool and 9 times out of 10 not only do I have it, but I know what it is and where to find it in the house! lol Although most of my tools are pink :dohh: He was also impressed that when I broke down on the motorway I was able to act like a driver and not (in his words) a bloody woman..

Any HR raising I did I made sure I lowered back down with a relaxing massage after  he's got to go for more tests :( but doctor is hopeful its not long term or majorly problematic, he's on some medication now, I hope they help xxx

I think women are better with tools than men:blush:

That's good news for OH:thumbup: but that's not a full on green light for you hun:winkwink: run him in gently :haha:

I`ve tried to encourage Anberlin to crawl, I really have. She just downright refuses. She butt bounces, not exactly a shuffle like they`ve describe, but I`m okay with it. It`s funny to watch.

Creeping and crawling. Infants are generally capable of pulling themselves along with their arms (some even getting up on their hands and knees) by around 9 months of age, and crawl more efficiently (with or without lifting their abdomens off floor) by around 10 months. And for the parents of babies who seem to have no interest in crawling, rest assured that there are some infants who walk before they crawl, and even a few who never crawl. In these instances, it is helpful to remember that crawling is only one of many ways to assess whether a child's muscle strength and motor skills are developing properly.

Most children move on to pulling up and standing at about eight months. From then on it's a matter of gaining confidence and balance, but while most babies take their first steps sometime between nine and 12 months, it's okay if your child takes a little longer. Many perfectly normal children don't walk until their 17th or 18th month.

""I'd been waiting to put my son on the swings at Mommy & Me, and another mom had overheard me bemoaning his steadfast refusal to move under his own power. "He's 8 1/2 months and still not crawling?" she asked incredulously. I stood speechless. I was the bad mom whose kid didn't crawl, would never crawl, and thus would never get into a good college. Or at least that's how it played out in my new-mom neurotic mind.

"He's probably just content where he is," my pediatrician said, unconcerned when I brought it up at Fletcher's 9-month well-baby visit."" This kid must know George!

Brandi- does mike know the marriage is over? Or are you going along until the counselling is done?

Lol at the bum shuffler, it's cute!

I think you us ladies are teaching my kid how to say moma, we say mama:dohh:

He's been jabbering all day but it's like a frog croak in the back of his throat talk not with his vocals, if you know what I mean:wacko:

Aarons started to get into all fours (knees n hands) then rocks back n forth but then plonks down to army crawl :dohh:

Sorry Harvey- sun is up but one camera has no batteries and my new camera has run off somewhere :/ Will look more later.... Getting ready to make a scarf :happydance:

I think we both want out of the marriage, but don't want to split because of the kids, if that makes sense. So long as we can stay civil and the counselling can help both of us, I think we can survive until I can get out on my own. He's said multiple times he wants a divorce. I think I'm more afraid of losing the comforts I have now than actually being alone.
