would the agency not insist that you are licenced and fully registered and up to date qualifications? sorry Im just shocked how easy it is! And that any parent would chose to use an unregistered unlicenced daycare for their child

Here there are tons of unlicensed day-cares... but they're not exactly legal- You can, however, be a baby sitter with three kids other than your own... so kinda the same But if you want to claim anything on your taxes, including the income, then you have to be licensed. I could apply and get my license immediately because I already have infant/child CPR and First Aid, have taken the classes, and have a fingerprint card on file- I can not be licensed HERE, because we are upstairs. Not that I need another kid

If I end up going through the agency, the agency will license me and will make sure I have all qualifications before putting any children in my care. If I go with the agency, I'll have to get an updated police check for all people over 16 in in the house (they like every 3 months, mine is from September 2011), a basic physical from my doctor, and photocopied documents of my up-to-date qualifications.

So, if I go with the agency, I'll be ready to go in about a month. Up until September, I can take kids at any hours (except overnight, I WON'T do those), but when I go back to school in September, I'll be available for evenings and weekends only, which is in high demand and pays more.

The one thing I don't like about the agency is that I can't set my own rates. I live in a richer part of town and daycare out here is extremely expensive (about $1200 a month per kid for fulltime care). I charge $440 a month for full-time (25+ hours) and $340 a month for part-time (under 25 hours). Late fees are $5 per hour, and if care is needed outside my 6:30am-6:30pm hours, it's $5 an hour. Emergency, weekend and holiday care is $30 a day for full time (more than 5 hours) and $20 a day for part-time. Even those rates are well below the average for this area. I don't want to rip anyone off, but provide quality care at the same time. I know how difficult it can be.

Brandi, I hate to offend but Im going to say this and hope you know I dont mean any offence... sometimes text doesnt come out as planned but here goes...

You currently have marrital problems and tension around the house, DH is around the house and being 'lazy'. On top of that you have Zoe in school, but when she gets poorly she gets very porly and has needed lots of hospital trips and definitely lots of 1 to 1 care and attention. Is it then fair to open your house as a day care setting when you run the risk of needing to close to collect or care for her (or your other 2!), or is it fair for children to be looked after around such friction? Will you be honest witht he potential parents are fill them in onthe back ground details of your current situation? When you a family its not so easy to avoid putting your own kids in the situation of hearing an arguement etc, but I would be totally unhappy if I was paying for care and my care and my child witnessed anything similiar

Nah the old place was week by week and I totally forgot about it and paying it in the move. I am so stupid sometimes! The TV licencing guy wasreally nice about it though and said if they do fine me they will send me a penalty notice in the next 6 months.

To make the past half hour even better Bethany did a mega poo and when I was changing her Dylan was getting right in front of me saying ewwww and Bethany ended up with it ALL over her and the carpet!! She then had a right strop at me once I had cleaned her off for daring to put clothes on her, really shouting and kicking her legs, her first tantrum

Brandi- New points out some valid things- and I would like to add in regards to Zoe- she already gets exposed to so much at school, do you really want snot spreaders in your home bringing in MORE germs, etc?

7:30 and the girls still haven't napped... at this point I want to try to push it off an hour (or more, FX!) and see if we can combine it with the one they take around 9:30- maybe get one decent LARGE nap in instead of 52 little ones?

Had a large cup of tea- double strength- on to a jumbo coffee- and I think this morning instead of ibuprofen (taken daily ) I'll take excedrin, as it has caffeine in it!

I've thought about that. Most of our fight have to do with money, or lackthereof. This will help us keep afloat and pay what his EI can't, like property tax, house insurance, and credit stuff, things that we would otherwise have to borrow from credit lines to pay. Maybe I can even buy a van, eventually. Opening this daycare is also going to be a way for me to be able to get out on my own. This will be extra money to put towards leaving him and being able to afford something better than subsidized housing. I'll move the daycare with me. Most of our fight happen at night, and I wouldn't have kids here then. We are also under contract from CAS to NOT fight, so if a fight were brewing, I'd ask him to leave, at least until the kids are gone.

As for Zoe and her appointments, because Mike isn't working, if there was a fever emergency with Zoe, he is available to take her to the hospital and to school. Also, the days that Zoe goes to school are the same days I take Isaiah and Anberlin to playgroup, and playgroup is right next door to Zoe's classroom.

Most of Zoe's appointments are scheduled months in advance which gives me plenty of time to allow parents to find alternative arrangements for those days. Most fevers start in the middle of the night, and Mike will definitely be home for those. We know by the temperatures outside whether she can go out or not, so we don't run that risk of hospitalization from hypothermia or anhidrosis.

If there is an emergency situation that I haven't thought of, I'll think of one when the time comes.

Oh yes, NEw- This is the sizing difference between a double and a cal king (And othrs) As you can see a Queen is quite a step down for us- but just don't think we can make this condo work in the long run unless we do!

As for snot spreaders, Zoe gets very sick when she does get sick, yes, but her sicknesses are very rare. Her only emergency hospitalization since she started school was because of obstructive sleep apnea, and then her surgery in November. She hasn't even had a cold since starting school! They had Norwalk go through there and she thankfully didn't catch it.

Ultimately, it's temporary, to keep us afloat, and to help me and the kids get out of here faster. So, we'll see what happens!

Im sure in my terms of agreement if they cant get it fixed in 21 days they have to replace - its getting close to that!

Will you tell proposed parents about Zoes condition and what it may mean?? If they are using unlicenced childcare then in strikes me they not exactly well equipped to find alternative arrangements when needed, Im sure unlicensed daycare would be an essential last resort decision
