Oh no poor Jack. Sounds like you caught it quite early thankfully. He's in the best place hun, ask the nurses questions if you're confused, they won't mind.
I can't imagine what you must be going through. Like others have said though, you've caught it early so the chances are everything will be absolutely fine.
Thinking of you all, I hope your LO starts to feel better soon
Hope he will be better very soon. It is a terrible thing to happen, but so good that you caught it early. Thanks for posting this here, it teaches all of us to be vigilant. Big hugs to you and be strong! I am sure everything will turn out well!
I know exactly how you're feeling. DS2 was in hospital at 4 weeks old with meningitis. He was given the exact same treatment you're describing as at first they didnt know what strain it was. He was very very poorly, (struggled to breathe, fever that wouldn't break, etc) and we were in for 5 days before we really knew anything. But on day 5,(several blood tests, lots of antibiotics, anti virals and 2 lumber punctures later) suddenly we were allowed to go home!! He had a viral meningitis (the best possible outcome really). He will e closely monitored now over the next couple years, but he is absolutely fine. It is very scary at the time, and it's horrible watching them go through it, but hopefully this is the outcome you will hear very soon. I hope your LO makes a speedy recovery. Just wanted to share my sons story as when you hear meningitis all sorts of terrible things fly around in your head.
Also, if u want to chat pm me - it was only a few weeks ago this happened for us so it's all still very raw in my memory!
I havent read all the comments and have no advice really. Just wanted to send you our best wishes and will be thinking of you. Hope your little one is soon on the mend and running rings around you very soon! Make sure you look after yourself too!
