After not been on the pill for several year and now that I have my two little ones I have descided to go on the pill.. this is mainly because I don't trust using condoms esp if we are in the heat of the moment and " Forget"

I started taking this without yet having a period on Sat. And since then I have felt sick a couple of times and yesterday/today I am having period type pains and feel a bit odd in my ladybits.

Is this normal?? I thought this pill could be described for period pains to stop them and I've read the litreture that came with it and it doesn't mention it.

I feel like poo and the mood swings ain't helping at all so between this and the lack of sleep its driving me mad and I keep snapping at OH.:cry:

i used that pill years ago and caused all sorts of problems so i switched, apparently drs will put you on it because it is the cheapest one but can cause lots of problems so i would recomend going back to drs and talking to them about switching, i moved to cilest which worked fine for me

I've been on all sorts of pills over the years but have had a long gap before starting again. Cilest made me ill. It made me physically sick and constant headaches so then I went on to the injection every 3mths but this gave me huge side effects mainly pregnancy ones, I gained weight and my boobs went from a b cup to a DD !! plus I was producing milk so came of that. I have a problem with oestrogen too much of it messes me up apparently, Doc suggested if this didnt work for me to have the Coil but I dont want this.

I've rang my Doc's and i've got to ring back after Dinner to see what she says.

weird you say that i started this last week havent been on it in 3 years went to work on monday and was sick everywhere.. for no reason at all...

I used to be on Microgynon 30, went back on it after Isobel. I had all the symptoms you have described. I swapped to Yasmin halfway though the pack and not had a problem since. I suggest you go back to the doctors.

It's true that they give it because it's the cheapest so just ask for another one. I must be a weirdo though because I've been on it on and off for about 8 years and it's the only pill I get on with. Cilest no good for me.

My Doc rang me back and she said that it wasn't symptoms that she had experianced before but she said that some women suffer from Nausea and some other things, She told me that it was completely up to me if I stayed on it and to be honest I might as well finish the pack and see if it carries on.. don't trust just "Condom" Method im well paradoid now about getting pregnant again so wanna try all options.

Thanks Ladies xx

I would give it 6 weeks to really be sure that it doesn't suit you - I've tried most of them now and I always feel like crap for the first few weeks then it usually gets better but if its making you feel absolutely terrible then definitely swap. There are plenty of other to choose from.....trust me I know! I think I've actually run out of pills to try now so god knows what I will do after we've had baby number 2!

The pill doesn't agree with me either, infact anything hormone based...I had the implant before DS was conceived and got it taken out as I put on almost a stone in a month :( ... but the pill gave me headaches, weight gain too and my mood swings were horrendous!

Waiting till my 6 week check then will be getting the copper coil fitted...no extra hormones for me thanks!!

Hope you get something sorted soon
x

This pill was what caused my pregnancy. Hate it as it made me emotional, sicky and weak :(

I didn't get on with this one either, had horrible headaches and it actually gave me period pain which I dont have when Im not on it.

I found Yasmin much better

ive been taking microgynon for 8years and has always been okay with me. ive just started taking it again 3months after giving birth

I felt utterly as you describe on microgynon and just switched to rhythm methods. But from what others are saying, I'm sure you'll find an alternative that doesn't...

i was onthis and it gave me visual maigraines so i switched to femulen xx

Thank you for all your replies girlies. I am still talking it and I am getting the odd period pain but nothing major. and I don't feel sick anymore...so fingers crossed x

Been on Microgynon for 9years, originally had side effects of gaining weight and got rid of my horrendous period pain but replaced it with horrendous PMT! (lol lucky hubby!)
I'd personally give it a couple of months to see if it settles down, but if you get migraines go to your Dr, was told that migraines on it can be dangerous if left. Best of luck :D

It can take while for your body to settle down on micrgynon but once you get into the routine it can be fine.

There are a lot of horror stories of Microgynon out there - I for one stopped using it and swapped to cilest as I felt it was contributing to my weight issues and depression.

You need to give ANY pil a good few months to allow your body to adjust to the new hormonal routine.
