i just rang my midwife to ask her something and thought whilst ive got her on the phone id just question a few pains ive had in my calfs and a shooting pain in my lung - hospital had told me a few weeks back that the pain in my calfs was cyatica and the shooting pain in my lung would be baby kicking -

well i just told my midwife and she was like "you NEED to go to the hospital :(:(:(

now im a bit freaked out! and cant get through to them on the phone

ooer. Try not to worry too much, I am sure the midwife is taking a better safe than sorry approach.
Perhaps she i worried about DVT, which is common in pregnancy and needs to be ruled out.
The pain in your lungs does sound like baby kicking, I get that too.
Get checked out just in case, but try not to panic, it is more than likely exactly what the hos told you the first time round.

thank dottie - i asked her why and she said i have have a clot - but when i said it was in both calfs she was like oh - and didnt really know what it could be :(:(

She is probably just worrried about a clot and I don't think that would affect both calves as you say.

Don't worry, but get it checked out just in case!

shes just wanting you tobe monitored, she cant diagnose a clot over the phone, dont panic or try not to, your wee baby will just be using your lung as a football lol,i am sure everything will be ok, let us know how you get on x

Dont panic hun, shes just worried and has to assume the worst to keep you and bubs safe. Can you go along to your hospital without calling them first? x

try not to worry hun sounds like its all just precautionary im sure they will tell you its nothing but at least you will know you have nothing to worry about !! really useful of them not to answer the phone though !! just go up i would !!!
as for mw maybe shes just having a bad day !!!
let us know how it goes x

She just wants you checked out ASAP because a clot that travels to the lung is a pulmonary embolism. PEs can be fatal before you can even call an ambulance. Honestly though they rarely occur in both calves at the same time. You'll be fine.

just got back - spent 3 and a half hours there waiting coz doctor was in theatre - midwife put my on monitor to monitor bubs - bubs decided to be cheeky and move about so much that the monitor went of scale and set the alarm off - also had to stay on an extra hour or so because he would either sleep or be really hypa so she couldnt take it off! so ended up with half a tree worth of monitoring lol - it also showed up that i was having BH contractions without knowing.

waited for ages and doctor came had a poke at my legs and accessed me and made me breath in to check pain in lung was not a clot and then said she was happy for me to go home and just to take painkiller for the leg pains

i didnt expect to be there that long but i had only been there for 10 minutes when this lady asked mke if i wanted some super - of course i accepted! :D and there was a woman screaming - must have been in labour - but i was far to interested in my jelly for it to scare me :haha:

bit off on a tangent, but whats the calf pain you're having out of interest? When I wake up in the morning and have a stretch I get THE worst cramp in my right calf, like it completely freezes for ages...should I be telling my MW that too?

xx

thats exactly what mine is like! and when i told midwife she was quite concerned so id say yeah propably get it checked just to make sure its not a clot but you would be able to feel a hard lump in your calf if it was and your ankles would be swollen and red

Glad all is ok, lol its good when they come round and say would ya like ne thing to eat, im always like erm what hav u got goin haha. I get restless legs most evenings and pains in calf its a nitemare but long as u and cheeky bubba is ok thats the main thing, and not long now to go xxx glad u enjoyed ya jelly haha xx
