I am having problems with the flow from one of my boobs. It seems to be pouring out, all of a sudden. It is so fast that it is really distressing Oliver when he feeds from that side. He gets really wriggly and keeps falling off the boob to cry. He obviously wants to feed from it, because he keeps going back, but he is not a happy bunny.
I'm not sure if anything can be done about it. Anyone else had this problem before?

Yes, I have this condtantly on both boobs. I was told that it should regulate itself by the time BFing was established but it hasn't.

I find it quite diffucult to manage but there are some things you can do to aleviate the problem. Try letting Oliver feed "uphill", so he is looking down at the boob and gravity may assist somewhat. I sometimes wait for letdown to occur and I express a little into a cloth just to take off the initial spray. Poppy has got used to it a bit more now and used her own techniques to reduce the spraying, i.e. she pulls backwards when the flow begins but she still gets full of wind sometimes as she is swallowing so much air with each mouthfull. It also goes down the wrong way a lot, which causes her to break off, coughing and SCREAMING (she has a right little temper - mind you so would I if I kept choking on my dinner) this makes feeding in public rather tricky. I also have to be careful who is sitting next to me as they are in my firing line when she breaks off. Many a friend has been given a milky shower!

If you google "overactive letdown reflex" you will find more information.

was gonna suggest expressing a bit off first to slow the letdown

This is what worries me about feeding in public!!!
I've started expressing a bit into a muslin before he feeds, but this really upsets him too! It's as if he can see all that precious milk going to waste!!!

express it into a freezer bag and keep it. def worth doing!

Stash it!!

I dont have the problem but it did make me think of the time a couple of weeks ago I was out with my sister. We went into a cafe and I got sat in the corner ready to feed under my pashmina. I was 'sandwiching' my boob to get her to latch and jetted milk over my shoulder and up the wall!! :shy: Fortunately no one was any th wiser but me and my sister were pissing ourselves laughing!!

:rofl:How the hell did you get it over your shoulder??!!! Do you have mega bendy boobs??!!!

I think my nipples have holes in odd places!!!! Honestly I was pissing my sides when my sister came back with the coffees!! She wondered what the hell was going on!!

I had this for about 4 months before it settled down. I found that Kaya just got used to it after a while, it doesn't do them any harm. I got into the habit of clamping my finger over my nipple when Kaya came off to stop the milky showers lol.

Mine is exactly the same. My husband doesn't know, but he's had many a milky shower when we are in bed, and i'm feeding Seth.
