Mini pill - Cerazette - what are the side effects like?

Ive been getting headaches, constant spotting for the past 3 weeks and zero sex drive. Also ive had really bad mood swings where im fine then two minutes later ive turned into some sort of monster. Considering just stopping taking it because i feel horrible!

i loved it, i had it before the implant a few years ago as its the same hormone that was in the implant then. I got the cerazette mini pill form just to see how my body would be like and it was great.

I recently read kellyjobling's post about her experience on the mini pill, and have read several other posts. I firstly would like to share my experience as I too am very concerned;

It started last year when I was 19 and started taking a combined pill (Cilest) At first it made me feel nauseas and light headed but got better and controlled my disruptive periods which were occurring about twice a month. However, after consuming 2 packets over the space of two months when I gave my body a break and enabled a period i ended up in A & E due to a very awful migraine with an awful ora which made my left side go totally numb.

I stopped that pill straight away as I didn't want to risk another episode.
From August to September my body accepted being off the pill and my periods returned, however, after going into a serious relationship I decided to go back onto another pill, and after consulting my doctor I was given cerezette which one of my friends was taking. She recommended the pill as it had little side effects to her and NO PERIODS.. Well like anyone, I was delighted with this pill.

I started it straight away rather than waiting for my period.. I had just finished my last period and unfortunately had taken the morning after pill just after I stopped bleeding.

I was in my first year of university now, October to December were busy but the first three months of the pill were amazing I had no bleed until January 2011, and no spotting or mood swings. However, When the 3 month trial ended and I returned to my GP, she asked how it was going and I wanted to explain about some body changes.

In september I weighed 8 and a half stone which was due to using the gym for 3 months (original weight was 9 and a half) although in december I weighed just over 10 and a half stone and had small red vein like marks on the top of my thighs.

In december the incredible pill had turned out awful, me and my boyfriend went to Paris and during one of our nights in the hotel I began getting very upset, it was a sudden thing and left me having a horrible vision of me slitting my throat in the bathroom mirror, I remember one min feeling angry and upset and the next in tears with a horrifying image in my head.

Coming up to january I felt exhausted with the lack of a period, I was hormonal and angry all the time, me and my boyfriend were always arguing and he did nothing wrong! I felt bloated and even took a pregnancy test (which was negative) and finally had a period! It lasted a full week and made me feel amazing again !!!

About a month later I had another vision and started feeling lonely and sad about everything in life. I considered stopping my pill but kept having sex without a condom.

In April 2011 I finally stopped my pill, it was the last straw, I didn't consult my doctor as I thought I'd be off it for a month and back on it the next. It has been 3 months since I stopped the mini pill. It took 6 weeks to get my first bleed and I was glad it lasted a week and gave me an insight that my body was going to be ok, however, It has been 9 weeks since that period and I have been trusting condoms as my only contraception. I haven't seen my GP as I wonder if they will just say it's my body getting use to the pill OR somewhere along the line the condoms have let me down.

Now you know my story, please tell me what you think? Any suggestions?

I started taking it a month ago, and OMG the mood swing are awful! I feel like a total bitch all time, esspecially at my OH (who really doesnt deserve it)

Ive been almost comstantly on, No sex drive and i keep getting headaches.

I want to go back to condoms but my OH wants me to stay on the pill do ive got to stick it out



Also this is the only pill i can be on because i get migraines so cant have any others..

I'm on it at the mo and not had any side effects at all... Although I do keep forgetting to take it around the same time every day, lol, hope I don't end up pregnant again!

I have been on it for 8 weeks, no bleeding, feel fine, emotions back to normal. Zero sex drive but this is due to being tired all the time with baby and major trauma and stitches after birth..still don't feel right.....it's been a lot better for me than combined pill so far, which I was on for over 10 years. No side effects that I can detect.
