Hi ladies, any advice and support would be much appreciated...

My husband and i have been TTC for years now, i have a underactive Tyriod and am taking medication for and i have very irregular periods...sometimes they last for a few days and other times they last for months...over the last 4 months i have been bleeding every 2 weeks for at least 7-8 weeks quite heavy.
When i have a scan last year i was told that my POCS has got better and so they couldnt see much regarding that...

Sept 2009 i had a Laporoscopy done, they told me that my tubes looks fine and did some drilling on my ovaries, they removed a small cyst too, there was some scar tissue that was seen by Dr and i have no idea why they didnt do anything about it at the time but asked me to book myself in for some more surgery...

May 2010 they did a Hysteroscopy...my FS lazered my cervix as there was some erosion there and did some work on the scar tissue...my FS told me that they had to leave a Mirena Coil there in order to keep the tissue apart and give it all time to heal?? I will have it in for 3 months and then hopefully he will let me have another course of Clomid as the last 2 months failed and did not ovulate...
I have a high BMI and so my FS had told me that i couldnt have anymore treatments on the NHS and if i wanted anything else ie injections he is happy to do it but it will have to be private....it works out alot of money which we cannot afford at the moment...so i will be trying to lose some weight for the next 3 months...i have to lose about 4-5 stone!!!!

If anyone has had any of the above and can give me some advice i would be very grateful....i kinda feel a bit randomly werid!

Thank you for reading and all the best to you xx

Hi Simi.. i haven't had any of the procedures that you mention but I was born without a thyroid gland, is your TSH at an ideal level? Alot of people with underactive thyroid glands say they need to be under 2 to fall pregnant. When I fell pregnant (at the age of 17!) I wouldn't have had it quite that low (because I took a teenager approach to taking tablets) but I can definately say that if I don't take my tabs properly it mucks up my period etc. And I take it seriously now that I'm older ; )
Its the only bit of information that I can offer, sorry, it would be good to know whether you're taking enough thyroid hormone replacement though, you would be having a hard time conceiving otherwise..

Hope that helps a little = ) xxxxxxxxx

Hi Simi- I should probably write it under my sign off- yes? I'm new so I don't know how to do it really, but I know it can be helpful to put people's stuff into context.. maybe I should just practice until it looks right! ; )

Yes, we're TTC, we've been trying casually for about 7 months, but I started to worry when things weren't happening (I have a son from a previous relationship both times we got pregnant in the first month- second time it was a blighted ovum (is that what its called?) But we still fell pg straight away!

This time, not the case, so we both have been checked out and it turns out my partner has poor morphology.. so now, with that information in hand we're starting this month with a few tools- he's on FertilAid and I'm going to try the softcups.

I have regular cycles, though they're quite short, this month was 24 days, I also get some spotting before AF which I find disconcerting but the FS doesn't... all my levels including my thyro tho are fine. My FS thinks I'm very fertile, lots of ovarian reserve etc... so the thyro doesn't haveto be a prob if your levels are good. I'm on 200mcg a day (I used to be on less- 150mcg and I have no thyroid gland whatsoever- I also got pregnant on this dose) but I like the higher dose, I feel tonnes better. The best for me too is to take it early in the morn, on an empty stomach. It makes a big difference to me. Make sure you get your levels checked and that you're under 2. You will feel sooooo much better. Also, there is a great forum for TTCers with thyro problems at babycenter.com I think it is. There are some real experts! Haven't looked around for one here.. though I like this forum better for TTCing in general!

Ok, I've waffled enough = ) Take care, good luck and let me know what your thyro levels are, I'm sure you can call whoever took your last test and ask them for your numbers!
