Hi ladies

I'm starting to think about the mmr jab as my lo will be one in less than two weeks. I'm wondering whether to wait until 1 May which was her due date.

She is a good size and since coming out of hospital has been well. But something is making me think I should wait a bit. To make things a little more complicated I'm pregnant again and due 1 May so if I do put the jab off it won't be for too long as I would like the side effects to be over before I have this baby. (because I WILL reach term this time)

Interested to hear what other premmie mummies have done or are planning to do.

I'm 100% sure I'm vaccinating so please im not asking if I should or not I'm asking when to do so.

Many thanks ladies!

Holly got hers at 13 months actual. They sent me an appointment for it and I didn't think of delaying it.

I would wait awhile (probably past the EDD also) just because premies do have a reduced immune system and the MMR is a live vaccine and could cause issues. Does your LO go to nursery or anything?

I think I'm going to have a word with our consultant and see what he thinks. If we dont have the appointment until 13 months, thats not to bad.

She only goes to one baby group once a week and if I take her anywhere busy I keep the rain guard on in the hope it will keep any nasty lergys out. Also helps stop randoms from touching her which I hate!

We did it at 13 months too (actual) in line that all her others were done at actual. Didnt have an issue.

Yeah I think I'm just being nervy. I'm still scarred from our time in nicu, I'm terrifed of her getting ill again. I did a lot better with the last round of injections I managed not to take her to hospital, so hopefully I'll be better! My pregnacy hormones are messing with my head think!

Mine was 33 weeks, we are delaying all vaccinations a few months upon recommendation of our doc - of course she is only breastfed and is never around other children (no siblings) and doc also recommended NO baby groups for us :(

I'll probably wait till nearer 14 months (12 months adjusted) - not for any other reason than by then the new baby will be due for her 8 week jabs so I can do one trip down to the doctors rather than two.

On a semi-related note - I was in there for my own whooping cough jab the other day and the nurse was trying to get a smile out of the baby (who was sulking from remembering what's happened the last few times she's been in that room) and then at the end she really chirpily said "and I'll be seeing YOU in a couple of months"... the look of disgust on Erin's face was absolutely hilarious! I was almost in tears laughing.

Same here. I didn't class it any different to all her other jabs and wanted it some before she got to nursery.

My LO just had her first round of jabs (8 weeks), the doctor knew she was 5 weeks prem so her adjusted age is 3 weeks, but I still had the jabs. Realistically she is 8 weeks old, regardless of when she was due. I see it this way, the doctor wouldn't have signed her off to receive the jabs if the wasnt ready X
