Megan!!! Amazing news! So pleased to read your news! xxxxxxxx
Avgabcon - if your late it could be a crimbo baby! xxxx
Definitely won't be late! after 3 emergency c-sections this one will have to be planned so it will be at least a week earler than my actual due date! But I'm thinking at least I'll have recovered a bit from the op and home and in a routine by the time Christmas day is here!! xx
I see! Well like you say at least you will have some recovery time before xmas cause i can imagine it must be a very busy and excting day with 3 kiddies and a new baby!. Do you mind if i ask why you had emergency c-sections?
Laura - I don't mind at all. I like reading other people's birth stories and I think the more aware people are about things and also how things can turn out fine in the end can only be a good thing!! (I seem to remember briefly writing this down on one of these forums before so if anyone is reading it again I apologise!) and don't read on if you don't like reading about things going wrong (even tho they were all happy endings) I don't want to offend/upset anyone.
1st - I'd had about 14 hours of really intense contractions (through the night) but still wasn't actually in labour and they kept losing the heartbeat. They tried to take a blood test (I think?) from Ava to check the oxygen levels but really panicked as they could feel what they thought was a hard growth on the head. Consultants came in and turns out she was 'back to back' and 'brow presentation' - quite rare so what they were feeling was her chin I think and not the top of her head. Rushed off for c-section. Also the day after I was told they thought she was downs - specialist came and checked her and gave her the all clear but she just had a very squashed head/nose/eyes from the way she had been squashed trying to come out. When the midwife came to the house a week or so later Ava was slightly jaundiced so she sent us to the hospital. when we got there it turned out she'd phoned ahead and said she suspected downs! So we had to explain everything and had to have all the tests done. She was absolutely fine!!
2nd - again about 15 hours of contractions through the night -got to about 2 cm I think. Kept losing heartbeat - again emergency c -section! i think the cord was wrapped round her neck but i was so exhausted/out of it by this time it's all abit hazy!!
3rd - because i was only 27 weeks when my contractions started (again late at night!!) they said I could probably try a natural birth but when the consultant was examining me I suddenly got a huge bulge in my tummy. She panicked and said 'we need to get him out now, i think your uterus is going to burst!' - so again off I was whisked. There were about 15 people in the room because of this and the fact he was so early. They were expecting me to haemorrhage I think as I had laods of units of blood on standby!
I am a bit sad that I'll never know what it's like to experience a normal birth but at least they (and me) are all here safely. It's only the day after that's reall really sore - to me it feels like really bad sunburn and somenone roughly running rough sandpaper over it - really burns!!
Anyway, has anyone else watched Coronation street with Julie at her 12 week scan? It will be interesting to see what is wrong....although I have my suspicions!!
xx
