Is your baby acting up differently? Do you think they notice?

My husband has been on paternity/parental leave for the last 6 month, and has been with us a lot. Now, he's gone back to work and I think Josh noticed. He is a bit more cranky, has a hard time settling and soothing himself to sleep. He's so different! Normally, when I put him down for a nap or for his bedtime he falls asleep right away, but now he cries and moan, something he never really did before!

Is he eventually gonna get used to daddy being away? Any tips? I gave him a dirty smelly t-shirt my husband wore and Josh kept on rubbing it on his face... He clearly miss his daddy

Aw, what a sin :( My OH didn't take time off, so I can't really say aything, but his behaviour seems ormal, it takes a while for a baby to get used to new things, such as their Daddy not being around as much-giving him Daddy's shirt is a good idea though.

aw i know how you must feel, my OH had gone back to work today (works away mon to fri) after 1 month paternity leave, our little boy misses his daddy so much and so do I!! good idea about the shirt x

I think it does have an effect on them especially as they get older , but he will get used to it ..maybe by doing some mom & son stuff only ..like a certain outing or game he will understand a lil better when hes older .

If your hubby has a camera phone ask him to send josh some pics and or a video so he wont miss his dad too much

We webcam everynight, but he still miss daddy during the day! Anyways thanks girls xx

my husband works away, hes rarely home these days... Rhys misses him like crazy, they talk on the phone every night and Rhys always gets more upset after bath time when hes tired and wants a daddy hug.

Ffion doesnt even notice daddys gone

I know how you feel. My husband's in the army and in Hawaii while i'm stuck here. (Hopefully he'll be home early next month for good!!!!!) But he seen them everyday from birth- 6 months and then I came home due to thinking that he'd be getting out soon (haha yeah right it's been 6 months and the army's just taking their sweet time . . ) But we've seen him for 2 weeks in november and one week last month for the girls birthday. I feel really bad that he's missing out on a lot . . I love when he comes home but hate it since the girls absolutely love him and are so attached when he is home and then he has to leave again! :(

My husband isn't out of town or anything but he is at work all day 5 days a week, I don't know if Kathryn misses him, because my DH only got a week off from when I was induced, so she is used to him being gone all day. Though she is clearly extra happy when daddy has his days off, and in the morning before he leaves. If he comes home before her bedtime she always gives him a huge smile when he comes home too.

My oh doesn't work away but due to his hours he doesnt really see jaymee much during the week, I think she does miss him though bcos even if shes been really cranky all day when daddy comes in she gets so excited and is full of smiles for him. Its really sweet, :hugs:
