We are doing a Controlled Separation (in Ohio/USA) and I am going to include in our contract DH pay me a sum of money monthly to help with the girls. The problem is i dont know how much is reasonable to ask.

To give you an idea: Based on federal min wage in Ohio for separated parents with 1 child, hed have to pay $120/mnth through Child Support.

However since we arent going through child support right now and we have 2 children...if Min wage is $7.40/hr and even at 20hrs: is $100 too much to ask? This is not his current salary and the only reason im not doing his current is because i KNOW he wont keep this job, so i need to base it off of something he could easily attain.

I just want ideas if this is too little, too much, im crazy for even asking? Id use the money for the girls like clothes, school supplies, etc. We are out of diaper stage, etc so no need for him to cover those expenses.

Ideas?

You only want 100 a month for two? I get 240 a month for one, and that's not much. How much does your ex make? Does he make over min wage? I wouldn't let him off so easily. You can still file a child support order, can't you? I would ask for no less than 250 for both of them.

I agree... He should help out more because all of our money goes to everything else they need so $250 wont help cover much but it should help out some

Right now at this job (for however long he keeps it ) he makes $9.hr and works 40hrs a week. But he has made min wage in the past yes...he cant keep a job so his income will always change (thats why i chose the min wage because thats the only stable number i have right now). Yes I can file with child support, i just was trying to work it out outside of that, but i can always go that route. Its easy to set up.
