Moses baskets at night

Is it ok to put a baby in a moses basket every night? The cot is in the baby's room but I've heard that its best to have them in your room for the first 6 months and the cot won't fit. Was thinking of getting a moses basket and just putting it next to the bed on the floor. Is it safe to do that?

Absolutely that's what most mothers do!!

My LO wouldn't sleep in Moses basket all so I had to get a crib for our bedroom but yes Moses basket is advised in your room x

My LO is in a Moses basket, I bought a stand for it though, didn't cost much and it's a better height for me to get him in and out of it.

I think they advise putting the basket on a stand rather than on yhe floor to allow air to circulate underneath, as it prevents baby overheating? They're not dear though.

I did that with my LO, but he hated the moses basket as he kept hitting the sides when he wriggled

My LO only has slept in his Moses basket since we brought him home -- we bought a stand and just move it and him as needed -- it's perfect as I can move him/it from the bedroom into the living room, etc., and he sleeps wherever (as he suffers a bit of reflux, we also use his bouncy chair at times)....we do also have his nursery set up -- with some furniture that my parents sent over from the states, but my OH and I have decided that we will get another cot when he gets a little older, if needed -- but for the moment, we're all happy with the moses basket. Also, depending on the height of your bed, the moses basket with the stand is, for me, the perfect height to lean over and reassure my LO without having to get out of bed -- it's almost like co-sleeping without the worry!

I have a Moses basket too! It's perfect I have a stand it's a perfect height next to my bed for me to pick my lo out of and check him during the night x

My first LO was happy in her moses basket, which we sat on a little table, beside our bed til around 12 weeks old.

When they are newborn it is great as she would sleep pretty much 20 hrs out of 24 and that was all in the basket, we would just carry it downstairs for during the day.

My son, who is now 5 months, only lasted about 5 nights in the moses basket - he just didnt settle - it was a nightmare!!!! He ended up in the bed with me til around 4 months - now in the cot

It depends on the size of your baby. My LO is fine in it at 3 months but not sure what he'll be like at 6 months. A friend moved her LO out at 4 months as she kept hitting the sides.

Re the stand-we borrowed ours so I can't really complain (but I will!), but we got a rocking stand and I find it really tips to one side taking LO with it so I prop it with books so my advice is to get a static one.

What's your Los height like on centile? As that might be a source of guessing how long...

Mine is 90th and is as long as Moses basket now at 13w...

She is in a crib though as wouldn't settle in Moses basket.
