I've had heartburn almost daily for weeks now, its painful but bareable, its been abit worse this weekend, and I noticed on Sat and yesterday I pretty much had it all day. But last night it got far worse, I couldn't move, everytime I did I felt the acid rising and I thought I was going to be sick. I spent the whole night pretty much sitting upright, its caused tummy ache and bad nausea. Didn't get much sleep and this morning I dont feel much better, we're really busy at work but I'm having to take the day off cos I feel so bad, plus I have a headache from lack of sleep.

Just hurts so much!!! I hope it goes soon, I dont want to put up with this much longer. Just feels like I'm going to be sick any minute.

Gaviscon and milk hasn't worked.

The lady who did my 4D Scan pointed out that he has lots of hair when she was looking at the 2D Scan, so perhaps the old wives tale about heartburn means baby has lots of hair, cos seems my baby boy does!!!

I just hope I dont have another 10 weeks of this.

aww i had realy bad heartburn with zack but i havent been to bad with this lo, zack was a very hairy baby he still has loads of hair and it grows in really quick.
i would ask the doc if they can give u something to ease it.

Aww i rly feel sry for you, i hate heartburn, get it most lying down, and your right gaviscon only soothes it at first then it comes back, try asking the pharmacy for something that will work better, and avoid pastry and spicy foods, they kick it of most for me, gl hun :)

I hate to say this but it's likely to stay now, it's so poo! I get it every day and after every meal. Milk is my only temporary relief, It does go when you go into labour n after the baby is born but before then I'm afraid heartburn is likely to stay! I feel your pain tho xx

I'm just the same - I spend every night either sitting up in bed trying to sleep or in the bathroom trying not to be sick. I have rennie next to my bed & ignore the recommended amount - I just pack them into my mouth 2 at a time until I get some sleep! I stick to gaviscon during the day. I'm sorry you're having a bad time with this but try to work out what food upsets it, make sure your tummy always has some kind of food in it (empty stomach makes mine much worse), and eat loads of yoghurts (I get through 4-5 a day!!!!).

Aww, I totally sympathise....:hugs: I am suffering with this pretty bad at the mo'

Didnt have it at all in my first 2 pregnancys....So its a new symptom for me

My Sister had it with her pregnancys & her LO's were born with lots & lots of hair!

Mayby see your doctor & say Gaviscon isnt helping :nope:

I feel for you, I'm exactly the same :(

Gaviscon liquid works to an extent but it comes back!

thanks ladies. I dont feel i could go out at the moment, felt better for a while but now worse again, think I'll get my hubby to head over to the pharmacy when he gets back from work. If it doesnt improve will see the doc tomorrow as i know from other posts there is something they can give!! Cant afford time off work, we're really busy and there isnt anyone who can cover my work...have pointed out they better sort it soon as of end of next month im on mat leave!!

Hmmm not the nicest of pregnancy symptoms is it ladies.

:hugs:

Mine just begging to get worse, horrid thing that it is.
My m/w recommended natural yog (I don't drink milk at all) and raw almonds ... Weird I know but so far it's actually helping!

morning

fear not there is a solution!!!! I had HORRIFIC acid reflux to the extent that when I was asleep I was waking up choking on stomach acid and inhaling it (sorry if thats a lovely thought!!)
I mentioned it to the consultant obstetrician who I'm under at the hospital and she was sooo sympathetic as she had the same. She put me on 150mg ranitidine twice daily and 20mg omeprazole every morning. Both she assures me are safe in pregnancy, they just arent licensed as what pregnant woman would volunteer for that study!! She uses them for loads of her patients.
Since then I havent even opened a bottle of gaviscon and was previously going through the huge bottle every 2 days. Its a revelation honestly!!! Get onto your GP and get these prescribed asap as its just lifechanging!!!!
Hope that helps - let me know how you get on!! xxx

Ahhhhh thanks so much, I will write that down and ask the doctor about it. Yours sounded horrific, the acid coming up is horrible, I keep feeling like I'm going to choke on it, right now its eased abit, but then it did earlier and then soon enough got really bad again. While its slightly better I'm going to try and have a sleep.

Much sympathy for you. I have it too, nearly all the time, absolutely hate it.

Daft tip but have you tried love hearts or refreshers sweets? Heard that tip a couple of weeks ago and it's pretty good. By the time i've sucked my 3rd sweet it's usually gone for a few hours. Would rather them than Rennies etc anyway.

At least we know it won't last forever!

I have it nearly daily too! Its horrendous as i dont like gaviscon but it helps! I was awake at ten to 5 this morning with it....bloody awful!
