ok i know this probally isnt in the right place but not sure where to put it

just wondering are you and your oh diffrent religions or have diffrent religious beliefs if so
do u pick one religion or the other to raise your child or do you not have your child christened and bring them up with knowing about both your beliefs and let them decide in later life?

iam only wondering as i'm athiest and dont believe in god but i do believe in ghosts and something liike a gardian angel and my man is catholic was braught up catholic and we have had little talks of this nature even thought he isnt ready to be a daddy yet but we both agreed that our children (when we fnially have them) will be catholic and braught up as catholic but of course will also be braught up to understand my beliefs also and will be engouraged to believe in what they want to so if one day they choice to become a christian then thats fine and if they stay catholic thats fine or if they convert to any other religion its fine by us . so what would u guys do as ?

I rise my son in both religions. I believe it;s not up to me to tell him this religion is better then other. when he is old enough he can understand the difference between them and choose what he want to believe.

I'm Atheist and my OH was brought up CoE, but he doesn't practice or anything. Our kids will be brought up to have a knowledge of many different religions but to follow none.

I am Catholic and my OH is Aheist. I raise Chloe and Jaycee as Catholics, They were Christened as Catholics. When they turn 6 or 7 they will have their communion and to be married in a Catholic church they have to be Confirmed.
If my OH ever wants to marry me he would have to accept my faith and become a Catholic as I will only get married in a Catholic Church, We arent engaged and that might be why lol
The twins will grow up knowing of all religions but will follow my religion

I keep it like my family did I won't baptise them but when they come of age(chruch wise) they can decide whether they want to follow any religion. me and Oh are both not religious, although our families have protestant backgrounds( methodist and lutheran)

Both myself and my husband are agnostic polytheists (we believe more in a pantheon of gods and goddesses than in a single God but we are undecided on how we believe in them!). He was brought up CofE and I was brought up Catholic. We have decided that when we have children we won't be getting them Christened but will be having secular naming ceremonies with our family and friends where we will name the secular equivalent to God parents- guide parents- preferably in the woods or on the beach at sunset. We will then encourage our children to make up their own minds when it comes to religious beliefs. My parents will hate it, but it's not their decision!

Beca

thank you all for shareing

as for catholic wise iam not sure if i have to become catholic to marry my man hehe he lives in a tiny place and they all know iam not religious and christened a CofE yes iam a prodistant hehe and they are all very accepting of it and so is my partners family they dont seem bothered realy which is great but we will probally get married in his parish so i probally will have to

To marry in a Catholic Church you have to be Catholic. Otherwise it would be a non denominational service.

well i shall have to look into that when he finally asks me haha

still thank you so much ladies for shareing it means alot i was abit nervious about it and what my family would think really as i knwo my sister would be questioning it but its great to see that parents are doing it so our decision isnt a bad one its really a great one:happydance:

my oh is muslim i was christened church of england he respects mmy beliefs and i respect his when it comes to it a lot of our belifs are the same

were getting married abroad as i dont want to be married in a church and he doesnt want a big wedding

our baby will be rasied with a open mind to both religions and be able to decide what he wants to be

we celebrate christmas and eid and he had his 1st prays in urdu when he was born x

my oh and i are very atheist (in that we are against all organised religion) but still believe in an afterlife, spirits etc. thats how we will bring up poppy but ive no issues with her becoming religious, though i would prefer she didnt.

Slightly different as we were both baptised catholic but thats where it ended for OH where as i went to a catholic school, was confirmed ect.

Our child will be baptised catholic and will go to a catholic school. OH complained at first but the catholic schools round here are the better ones so he soon stoped.

To be married in a catholic church only one person needs to be a catholic but you have to promise that any children will be raised as catholic.

By family my OH is Catholic and I am Jewish. But we are both atheists and I have no intention on christening my daughter.

OH is Athiest. I'm agnostic.
We will have a naming ceremony for LO, and have guide parents, but they can chose if/what religion when they are old enough to make an informed choice.

thanks for shareing
you all have great insight into this subject

thought I'd revisit this thread as I have recently found my faith in a pagan path and me and DH have talked about wedding plans and also raiseing our kids he wants them raised in a catholic faith which I dont mind and have told him that I will not be practiseing infront of our kids but I will also not hide my faith from them which he has agreed is fair enought :D

Pagan is great :D
