Hi! I am 42 years-old and baby has 5 echogenic foci in the heart. I am worried because of the risk of Down´s.
I have read that the most common is one echogenic focus in the left ventricle. Other than that, it is more rare and higher the risk of trisomies.
So the 5 foci plus my age, worries me.
Apart from the foci, there are no other signals of Down´s.
I have a 5 year-old boy who also had an echogenic focus. But it was only one and I was 36.
Anybody on similar situations?

Thanks :flower:

My daughter (born in 2014) had a few, and I was 26. Her nuchal fold at 12 weeks along was at the maximum "normal" range. I was pretty worried. I had a Level II ultrasound done, after which the specialists told me they're "pretty sure she'd be normal" (whatever that was supposed to mean). I was offered an amnio if I really wanted to know for sure. I didn't want to risk it because I wouldn't have ended the pregnancy or anything, so I just left it alone, and she was born healthy and average.

I was petrified, and I am still in my 20s. I can imagine you'd be much more worried at 42, especially since it's drilled into us that it's a bad idea to get pregnant past 35 (I don't buy into that at ALL!). :hugs: Have you been for your Level II ultrasound yet?

I also declined amnio and another non-invasive test for the same reason: I couldn´t end the pregnancy.
I need to ask the doctor about another ultrasounds but I think I had all the possible ones done.
Thanks for your reply :hugs:

You're welcome. I doubted I could help, but I couldn't read and run, either. I hope everything is perfect with your baby. :) Sometimes, our little ones just like to scare us!
