and sometimes he takes 5oz - in the middle of the night I feed him 5oz but then in the morning, about 5-6hrs later he only takes 3-4oz!

should I worry?

my lo does the same. she is 4 months and 4 days old. feeding at night while drowsy she will take 4 sometimes 5 oz. during the day it is always around 3oz (4oz and im ecstatic). and that is every 3 hours. i have noticed if i feed her more frequently, she will take even less! i keep a log and try to have her eat at least 25oz a day.

does he seem happy? having enough wet diapers? gaining weight? it is so nerve wrecking. on here i try to not read the threads about baby eating too much bc then it really makes me nervous that she isnt eating anything like that!

As long as he is gaining weight ans has plenty of wet nappies I wouldn't worry. You could always take him to the baby clinic once a week/fortnight just to reassure yourself.

he is gaining weight and has loads of wet nappies! thank you both for the reassurance!

glad my boy isn't the only one - was just my friends who's baby is now 6 weeks old and already takes 4-6oz at each feeding every 2hours.

:hugs:

My 9 week old son is just the same and I constantly worry! I feel better for reading your posts! x

My LO takes 6-7 oz's every 4 hours and he just turned 4 months

but he use to only drink 4 oz last month. and all of sudden he was pleased. I'm sure he's fine he'll start eating more when he wants =) let him up the size on his own like my LO did

MY 13 week old is exactly the same. Sometimes he only has 2 or 3 oz but most of the time 4, every 3 hours. His last feed at night is about 8 o'clock then he wakes about 3 and has 5 oz. Then at 7-7.30 he only takes 3 oz. He has fallen from the 75th centile to just above the 25th but doctors and HV are not concerned.

It was the same story here--four oz was the norm at around 4 months. I was worried, too, because everyone else's baby seemed to take so much more and were much younger, too. But he stayed perfectly on the curve, percentile-wise (50th all the way), and now, at 6 months, is up to 8 oz.

And trust me, I miss the 2 and 3 and 4 oz days. Feeding him an 8 oz bottle takes FOREVER. :nope:
