Ok so I work in a very busy small business, and I am very efficient normally but I'm 5 months pregnant now and it is starting to get harder! Our receptionist is rubbish and sits on her bum day whilst I am doing my job and also doing hers too! My boss orders me around all day I don't even have time for a drink in the morning or afternoon! I have no seat to sit on and I'm standing and running around for 10-11 hours full time 45 hours a week! I don't know what todo I have told them I need a chair but no one seems to care! Also I have said I'm 5 months pregnant and tired and once again no one seems to care! I've decided to take my maternity leave early in 8 weeks time but in the meantime what do Ido??? Am I being unreasonable? I've got awful back pain and it's spreading to my legs now I just don't want to seem like I'm slacking off because I am naturally a hard worker! Any advice?

Are you in the UK. If so, you have rights when it comes to getting a risk assessment and reasonable adjustments. Have a look on the You Gov website which will give you some more info. Print it off and show your boss. You could see your Dr or Midwife and ask them to write a letter requesting reasonable adjustments such as regular breaks and a chair. Failing that you can contact acas to act as an intermediary. Hope you get them to listen though hun before it starts to affect your health xx

That's the problem working for a small business! In going to say tomorrow to him that I need a chair and I can't keep running around like I am it's ridiculous! It's difficult , a bigger company I'd feel easier to approach them and they have rules in place! My boss will just get the hump lol xx

I know it's easy for me to say as I work for one of those big organisations but the fact is being a small business does not exempt them from the law hun. Stand your ground and trust that you are in the right and you are not asking for anything unreasonable. End of the day it's a chair and a couple of breaks, hardly a celeb list of demands is it? :winkwink:

Nope its not I'm nota diva lol! I don't want to be fed grapes all day just need him to realise Icant do 6000 jobs at once! Thank you hun :) xx

If you say you need a chair, and no one gets you one, I'd go get one myself, maybe even drag it from my boss' office. If you need a drink, go get one. You are not being unreasonable, you are making NORMAL even non-pregnant requests. If you voice your needs and they are not met, and you can meet them yourself, do so!
