I am expressing for my LO as she is in neonatal and will be until September.

She was 4 weeks old yesterday and the girls decided to take me out.

I drank a fair few half pints of Guiness.

I have waited until now to express again as I didnt want the milk to be contaminated with alcohol.

But now I have expressed, the milk seems a bit waterey looking - not quite as white either.

Is it because i have waited so long to express again perhaps? Will it be ok for my LO????

I am worried I have ruined my supply

I'm not an expert and i'm very sure others will be able to tell you better, but sounds to me just like foremilk? If you havent expressed for a while, then you will prob have more than normal. I dont think you can 'blow' it that easily or really at all dont worry :hugs: Just keep expressing as usual :)

It sounds exactly like foremilk to me hun, slightly yellow and watery. You would find if you expressed for a bit longer you would get to the hindmilk which is think and white hun. You can't blow your milk from 1 night :hugs:

I think after a while it turned whitey again and now that i look at it it looks ok. Thanks ladies.

Do you think I left it long enough expressing though? My last drink was finished at about 11.30pm last night and I didnt express until 13 hours later. I was only trying to be careful and I know I had some frozen.

No, not too long. Dont worry it will come right. Just get back to your usual routine for expressing. Much admiration to you for expressing for 4 weeks so far, do like to keep up with how things are going with Alex and cant wait to hear the day wen you get to bring her home.

I just want to say i totally agree with the ladies that it does sound like foremilk, i want to say what a wonderfull job you are doing, it must be very hard for you not having baby at home, well done, you for expressing and giving your precious littleone the best start in life...

xxxx

Yep, it was just foremilk hun. Next time you go out, try expressing when you get home and just throwing it away. That way your sticking to your usual routine, but just getting rid of your contaminated milk.

Basic rule is that if you are sober enough to drive, your milk is okay.

Just wanted to say a HUGE well done for expressing whilst Alex is in hospital. I found it soooooooooooooo hard with Molly and had to give up at the 4 week mark :hugs:

when i drink i still pump but dump it so not to mess with my supply xx

Yeah you can pump and dump while you're still "drunk" but once you're sober you don't need to dump it even if you've not expressed at all after you have drank the alcohol. The alcohol won't stay in the milk, it breaks down the same way as it does in your blood.

Does that make sense or am I confusing you more:wacko:

(By the way Serina, I think you know this already....I was letting SB22 know just in case she wasn't aware:hugs:)

Oh and yep....this is just excess foremilk as you'd not pumped for a while babe, don't fret xxxxxxxxxx

Well done babe for exclusively pumping....you're doing a fab job for your little girl, wishing her love and best wishes and hope she's well enough to come home real soon:kiss::kiss::kiss:
